  1. You are both spot on about processing. I have been using dyadic mostly on steroids with UV 🤣; I am still learning as it is my first serious imaging of Venus. I will probably/ want to go back to some of my good seeing images and tune them down a bit. I love Stuart's colour balance. I have my colour way which I like but Stuart's is just very subtle.
  2. I think I get what you are saying. But could you elaborate more on the benefits of capturing at longer exposures please? I should retry Venus at longer vs short under good seeing and compare.
  3. The fast frame rate is to combat bad seeing, I thought from discussions last year that faster is better. I think Neil did some side by side comparison . It may be the case for Jupiter but happy to be corrected for Venus if you believe that longer exposure is better. Even with my manual tracking I still get 7-10mins on Venus at 640x480. The cheap filter is doing quite well to my surprise. It all makes sense why you want to avoid daylight captures (☀️).
  4. I have personally found that during daylight captures I can go down to 3ms with a gain of ~400 (ASI capture), probably 80%, but as it is getting darker (maybe correlated to poor seeing/transparency) I have to up my exposures to 8-12ms to get my histogram 70-90%, not bad but fps drops quite a bit. At daylight, I tried to lower my gain by increasing the exposure but I found the images noisier. I do not image at dusk/night anymore. (my images are at f15) I suppose the three of us are using different filters wit different transmission that will affect the exposures.
  5. Looks great and nice fine details. What sort of fps are you managing with the new camera? At daylight I manage 300 at 640x480 (~3.2ms exposures) for a histogram of 70-90%.
  6. Great set of images. Second one is my favourite, it has a 3d feeling to it.
  7. Looking forward to your images with the new camera.
  8. Very nice. Good to see similar features to what I got. I think we are spoiled by this nice weather.
  9. Great image. The full resolution one has a flying over the Moon feeling to it.
  10. Another afternoon and another new display of Venus UV clouds. Seeing was not as good as yesterday but some detials are coming through. False colour IR/sG/UV. My usual setup.
  11. I hope you bounce back soon. It explains that I hadn't seen you posting on the solar section.
  12. That's looking great! The noise is gone and it is looking very natural.
  13. Thanks Steve. Good seeing makes life easy. Have you managed any more UV sessions?
  14. Thanks Neil. I am really enjoying it and I am getting the hand of processing Venus without noise. I am also happy with this colour balance (it's false colour anyways so it can be to my taste).
  15. Thanks Stuart. A good session yesterday, and more nice weather this weekend. I am really enjoying Venus with the new features all the time.
  16. Thanks Nik. Yes it's getting interesting at the moment. A few more weeks before it's too thin for features. O have only managed a couple of times to visually see subtle differences.
  17. I managed a very nice Venus session at daylight yesterday. 3x10min captures of which one had the best focus and seeing. I think that's the best cloud detail I have managed this apparition. The false colour was one of the easiest to process. 8" Dob, manual, asi462mm, 2.5xTV powermate, Astromania UV and IR filters.
  18. Ghosting only with my colour camera, asi462mc, but with the mono none at all, asi462mm. I capture Venus when it's at 53degrees or so.
  19. @Astroscot2Mark I am imaging using a cheap set of filters from Astromania. I wrote a review here https://stargazerslounge.com/topic/409518-astromania-filters-for-planetary-imaging-review/#comment-4377733 I am also imaging at bright daylight and I have not noticed any issues. See my posts on UV Venus on what I am getting. I think I am pulling similar structure to Neil and Stuart @Space Cowboy who are usually imaging a bit later than me.
  20. Very nice captures. Oh my, the famous trees.... you really have a small capture window, don't you!
  21. Mine looks similar but I bring the noise down with the Denoise (0.1-0.2).
  22. A quick session on Venus with the UV filter at around 1930UTC. Nice structure and again new features since the last post. 8" Dob, manual, asi462mm, UV astromania, 2.5x TV powermate.
  23. Fantastic details. How high was it? I have to miss some nice weather due to commitments but from 8pm I can image (although low for my liking).
