      Hi Mark,

Thanks very much, and it seems like a lucky break as we ended up with no one able to make it tonight!

I will update the website and it would be good to see you next time.

      Cheers,

      Stu

  2. My husband known here to some of you as Freddie passed away earlier this morning, He knew this day would come  because he had been very ill for some time. He wanted me to make a last post for him in the event that it did. He is at peace now and with the stars he loved so much.

Thank you very much for your post, which must have been very hard to write. I've enjoyed my exchanges with Freddie on the forum, and am saddened to hear this news. I am sure he is now in peace with his stars. Take care.

      Hi Mark,

That's right, meeting in Esher on 29th August. We have a dark site trip scheduled for 23rd or 24th August if it is clear. We would likely head to the South Downs.

      Cheers,

      Stu

It certainly won’t let you down Gerry!! :) ?️‍♂️?️‍♂️

  9. Well that's it. 56 eye pieces, 14 telescopes (including finders), 3 diagonals, 3 mounts, 3 tripods.

Its got to a point now where I feel unwelcome more than welcome on SGL, more often than not. This seems apparent due to the curt replies I get, based on my opinions or tastes, from officials & devotees of certain brands. Stargazers are a conservative bunch apparently. Also on SGL at least, paranoid that just one individual can discourage others to buy certain products, or send more than my critics think necessary.

I joined the forum last August & have learned a lot, not only about kit, techniques, tech stuff etc.

Richard, the forum is called Stargazerslounge not KitcollectorsSpareroom for a reason, because we like looking at (and imaging) stars etc.

I for one would welcome some observing reports and for there to be a focus on using some of this kit as it was intended.

I would encourage you to move away from casting doubt on the kit used by others, and our characteristics, and to post up something which we can all enthusiastically comment on.

I think you will find the responses change from curt fairly quickly.

I think there is only one which properly fits the Azeq6 and that is the 8” half pillar. There is also a 16” for the HEQ5. The tube size is the same so I have managed to make the full pillar fit the Azeq6

Presumably you observe seated Gerry? It may just be a case of try it and see how you get on. I do like at least a half pillar just to get you a bit clearer of the tripod but you may not find it necessary.
