I heard commentary through 2nd stage 1st burn and into the coast phase, then my attention wandered to the moon, dont recollect hearing the start of the 2nd burn of the 2nd stage just prior to orbit injection. So maybe it was that burn that failed ??

Did I hear " an anomaly " on the edit to complete my post ! :- on the Virgin 'tube. I was outside viewing a moon halo and 1/2 listening to the 'tube playing indoors. Sad

The rocket launch is far enough from land such that quote" ,, the blast zone, in the event of catastrophic failure, poses no risk to people or property ,,," last night on telly! Also shown was one of the ( 9 ? ) mini-sats being one-hand held so even with its small solar panels extended it (they?) is probably going to be dim. I have not got the dimensions of Prospero to hand but I think it was a lot bigger than this (these) and the rocket was very big !

Ummm, not really ! Our first proper British rocket (Black Arrow*) launched satellite was the British made Prospero. Launched from a rather large aircraft carrier floating in the south Pacific,,, called Australia And it was placed well high enough that it is still up there ! * part of the Black Knight / Blue Streak experiments of the 1960/70s (violins) - I remember it well and still curse HaroldW et al. for cancelling the things (end violins)

Ah! Thus creating an entangled pair !! I used to think my wife was a witch because she could always find me a matching pair (accompanied by a "withering look" ) where I had previously failed miserably. Now I realise the look was that of a trained quantum physicist correctly observing the heap and thus collapsing the wave functions. Always have plenty of freshly washed and dried wool socks that, at each session, two (see what I did there - avoided "pair") can be placed on each foot with wide shoes or boots.

When I first had the thought my concern was how to support/attach the vanes without resort to drilling holes for bolts !! If 3d circles could be printed that is good - could the vanes be made of stiff material (conventional metal) and be included in the 3d plastic ? Perhaps like rebar. No one (I imagine !) would want to take apart a rasa just for this, but here we have an interesting possibility, I am sure the rasa will get over the insult to its dignity when the new corrector arrives ! Yes, exactly, and without needing to bend the sensor like we did with film in days of yore 🤣 One would think that SA was still easier to correct in a large dia. front optical. But who knows ?! with modern tech and clever design ? There was a time when manufacturing tech needed correctors matched to their primaries, but now I read that machine tolerances are good enough that that it is not needed any more. A bit like the change in threads from in-house specials to Whitworth

Oh dear ! or similar words. Would it be considered a heresy if I were to suggest making some vanes for it, to support the lens assembly pro tem ? Only as a scientific curiosity of course just to see how much correcting it /is/was doing ?

I agree Sequator is easy to get going, but (when I used it some time ago, things may have changed) it was not obvious at first that it was rejecting -and not giving a reason why- a lot of my subs. but DSS took them happily. Siril has defeated me thus far ! probably because of not putting in enough effort since DSS is doing ok PS I make beer as well

Andromeda always steals the lime-light don't you think ? 😀 So here, for a fun extra, you also have got :- M 52, Cassiopea Salt & Pepper Cluster, and NGC 7789, Caroline's Rose Cluster ! Very wise ! and I also keep the DSS autosave.tif and do all processing on it in Gimp.

Well done, nice one ! Congratulations on getting there in the end We've all been there, pulling hair out and muttering expletives over software. Took me ages to get DSS and Gimp sorted. Always good to get an unexpected bonus in another part of the frame, I discovered Andromeda in a similar way, using my Canon 60D with vintage prime lenses on fixed tripod. Thanks for showing and as Carastro says, flats are good However, dont worry, all is not lost for this one, you can construct an artificial flat with Gimp. I hope you dont mind but I have taken the liberty of a quick play with it just to 'whet you appetite' to get Gimp installed Using a thing in "Filters" called a "Gaussian blur" make an extra layer and subtract it from the base image. (edit later : I can expand details if/when you get into gimp !) There are always edge effects to be cropped out but in this case we would lose Andromeda so I have left them in ! I may be indulging in wishfull thinking ! but - ACE (1hr uptream at L1) is reporting a large negative Bz, which is often a precursor to geo storms. Worth keeping a monitor perhaps

Apologies for not updating this topic earlier - every time I was about to update I got a few more lucky breaks in the clouds and more obs to process ! Anyway here we go with Oct and Nov additions to nicely fill in the gaps in the Sep lot. Of particular interest is the 26 Sep (green) obs half way down the decline that seemed displaced from the other greens in the slope. I thought at the time it was a rogue or my bad, but a month later (30 Oct, pink) suggested it was a real bump. 4 (blue) in Nov confirm the wiggle ! A google on "bump cepheid" is quite interesting.
