  1. thanks, all i see is a square like glass. its almost like the dot has gone and i just get a red glow with a prism-if that make sense
  2. Hi, whilst I like my Sky-Watcher StarQuest-102R f/4.9 Achromatic Refractor Telescope i find the Finderscope hardwork .Sometimes i get a red dot and sometimes i don't, despite changing batteries, trying to align so i can see a dot ive given up with it. Anyone have any recommendations? As to a decent finder scope that i can use with the Starquest? Thanks
  3. thanks, yes thats how i set mine up and the rotate on the RA/DEC axis. will try again on the next clear night
  4. Hi, so ive a question with the new scope. I polar aligned, balanced, set up as per all the advice and videos. Saturn rises South east and i undo clutches, spin the scope, line up, tighten the clutches, turn on the Sky-Watcher RA Motor Drive which is set to North but which doesn't track.....is this because i had to spin the scope (not the tripod)? bit confused how this is getting out of alignment as by the time id finished i was upside down and inside out...... its almost like im restricted to everything facing north and if i turn the scope on its mount 180 im out .... whats going wrong? thanks
  5. thanks, i got my first glimpse of saturn with the new scope early this morning, was great but very tiny. hopefully the new EPs will draw it in little bit better.
  6. hi, interesting read. thanks for the Sticky. For my Sky-Watcher StarQuest-102R f/4.9 which after doing the calculation suggest it might hard as its a fast scope and "Looking through a Plossl at this length is a miserable experience". If this is the case the suggestion is to buy an eyepiece with a length equal to 1½ times your focal ratio, and buy a 2x Barlow lens. Am i right in thinking then that it would be good to get a 2x Barlow, 8, 18, and 25mm. would that be correct? i was looking at the BST starGuider range. thanks
  7. thanks for this, i watched it a couple of times but not sure if you have the weight over a tripod leg or in a gap(if that makes sense? )also notice that at one point it shows picking up an object/planet low on the horizon but with the EQ mount it doesn't tilt up down so not sure how thats achieved....unless you spin the scope and rotate the EP
  8. Hi, could someone direct me to a few videos on setting up my Sky-Watcher StarQuest-102R f/4.9 Achromatic Refractor Telescope. 1st time owning one so not sure exactly what needs adjusting and cant find much on the youtube for it. Had a practice and on moving/rotating the telescope & by the time im at 12 (clock face)- straight up) im having to twist and adjust EP,s etc....is that normal? also if an object is low in the sky you cant just tilt it downwards and need to rotate which i guess is correct. thanks
  9. For the life of me i cant remember what camera i used on my Lx90 but i know it was a web cam and managed to get some good images like the one attached. Im going to start with my iPhone and a bracket but interested to know what good options are available so i can progress with my scope. thanks
  10. ok thanks, looks like id probably be better firing my old windows "98 laptop up again which i use to use before......
