  1. What was the FOV with the 2" 42mm eyepiece, 2" SCT diagonal and the FR? It seems like this would have provided the max. FOV.
  2. Congrats on the new DZ David. Your SN is way different from mine, which is something like 1D0051.
  3. Congrats on the new OTA. Looks like you need a chain saw too.
  4. Congrats on the new DZ, Mike. I hope that it is indeed your new "scope for life".
  5. All telescopes are good because they are tools that enable us to observe the universe. Each design has its own pros and cons. There is no perfect telescope or else the other types would no longer exist. If you want to go deep and see a lot of DSOs, then aperture is what you will need more than anything else. Myself, I am not out there trying to find/see every DSO in the star atlas. I am more interested in spending quality time under the stars and experiencing the awesomeness to whatever degree that I can, with whatever equipment that I happen to be using at that particular time.
  6. With the XLT version, the outer part of the FOV is distorted when the on-axis image is in focus. With the Edge HD version, the whole FOV is flat and fairly sharp (as sharp as an SCT can get, anyways). This is my viewing experience (visual only).
  7. The specs for the 8" Cass. at agenaastro say that the reflectivity of both mirrors is greater than 96%, which is very good.
  8. According to Larry Carlino's review at Astromart, the GSO 8" Classic Cassegrain only has a working aperture of 7.34".
  9. Wow, that is beautiful. Thanks.
