Hi I am re entering the hobby after many years and wondered if anyone can answer my question.
I have a advanced vx 8 edge hd , I have also purchased a Skyris 236m camera for some planetary photography to ease me into astrophotography as my last setup was viewing only.
I have downloaded the latest Celestron cpwi to control the mount with a windows 10 laptop . However I would like to do all the capturing using ICAP on an apple MacBook Pro which has thunderbolt 3 ,
I think the thunderbolt 3 is of comparative speeds to usb3 ? I have a short apple connector that takes me from a thunderbolt connector to a female usb which I think will still be of the same speed as usb 3.0 ?
if so I am planning to have both laptops in my house which is aprox 10 metres away from the telescope outside .
is there an extension I can use ? I have seen some extensions advertised at 10 metres but these are usb 2.0 . would this be a problem using usb 2.0 or is it too slow ?
I understand there are repeater cables that claim they can do what I want but has anyone gone down the same path as me and if so can you point me in the direction
of the correct way to do this.
I already have a cable long enough to control the mount with the windows machine using CPWI its just the Apple Mac /camera lead \
please before any negative comments I am really new to this/ I have googled around I came here for help not to have replies google or search I already have
Best regards all Phil
