  1. I have imaged about 3 times this year in North Wales. Like many I don't set up unless the forecast in good enough to confidently leave my set up out all night. Also, work and young children limit available nights. It's frustrating, but I feel it's still worth it for the excitement of a crystal clear night when everything comes together. However, I feel I can't justify spending much on astro gear these days
  2. That's my home town! Where about were these taken?

Ok, this is my 3rd (and final) attempt!! I'm much happier with this one. I did this all in Photoshop, I think the stretch in Siril was a bit too aggressive, giving it the 'fake' look of the last attempt.

Hmmm, I hadn't noticed that! I have no idea why the image is 10,000 x 10,000, it certainly wasn't on purpose!! The FOV is slightly smaller because after restacking I had some artefacts which I cropped out. I'm still not happy with it to be honest, so I will have another go tonight. Thanks for your comments

Had another go at this data last night. I restacked everything this time without the bias frames(I noticed that they were at a different gain to the other frames), and the results we're much less noisy. Still not completely happy with the processing(looks a bit 'fake'). But an improvement I think😬

Thanks! It's the background I tend to struggle with in processing, I will have another go and look out for this.

1st time out imaging in months because of work, kids and mainly clouds! This is my 2nd attempt at M45, taken over 2 nights, to give about 8 hours of data. I think I've overdone it a bit is processing, and made the image a bit noisy. But I'm out of practice and it's the best I've managed this far. Let me know what you think. Processing done in Siril and Photoshop. Let me know what you think, CC welcome as always Thanks Dafydd
  8. First time imaging for over 2 months due to work, life and clouds. Stupidly(considering the moon) trying out m31, but it's just nice to have the scope out again
  9. Hmm, you might me right. I'm only just starting with Pixinsight, so I might have pressed something along the way that has clipped the histogram🙈
  10. I used the Evostar 80ED and Zwo 533mc👍 Those subs look good, I look forward to see the final result
  11. First time shooting this target, captured about 4 hours of data last week using the l-extreme filter and the equipment in my signature. Calibrated with darks, flats, dark flats and bias frames. Really struggled processing this, but this is my best effort so far. Used DSS to stack the data, and mostly Pixinsight for my post processing. My first effort doing a false Hubble Palette, so any CC would be welcome. Thanks Dafydd
  12. Looks like the l-enhance is working nicely! Great obsy build, I'm not at all jealous😬
  13. Thanks for the kind comments!
  14. First time out in over two months due to the weather and work commitments. Also my first time shooting this target, and a first outing for some new gear. A newly belt modded HEQ5, L-extreme filter, EAF and ASIair pro. I'm very pleased with all this new gear. ASIair is just a dream to use compared to RPi and Stellarmate/Ekos. The auto focuser worked without any problem, and the HEQ5 was guiding at half it's usual RMS, keeping steady at 0.4-0.6 all night. This is about 8 hours of 3 minute subs. Calibrated with darks, flats and flat darks, and shot using my Evostar 80ED and Zwo ASI 533mc. Processing was done in Siril and PS. CC welcome as always Dafydd
  15. This was waiting for me when I returned from my holiday this afternoon. Thanks @nephilim. Clear outside is forecasting a couple of clear nights aswell😁
  16. L-extreme delivered this morning, thanks @Budgie1 for the quick delivery! Some clear skies would be nice now, it's been almost 2 months since I've been out imaging😭
  17. I am by no means an expert, but I don't think you would need both the l-pro/l-extreme and the uv/ir cut filter at the same time, it would be one or other. I have a similar setup, and use the l-enhance for nebula, and uv/ir filter for broadband, but never both together.
  18. I have a zwo 533 with the 80ed. I was slightly concerned with the square sensor originally, but can honestly say I've never thought about about it since. Calibration wise, it's so easy, but I only have the my 600d to compare
  19. That's a very interesting read @malc-c. Thank you for putting in the hours to develop the mod so that even numpties like me can install it!😀 I'm off on holiday for a week now, so I won't be able to test it out properly for a while.
  20. Thanks @malc-c. I managed to complete the mod without removing the connectors in the end👍 As you say, there was plenty of slack in the cables. I've read various instructions and watched youtube videos of this mod, and have never seen anyone do it without completely removing the motors. Otherwise, I found it a quite straight forward mod, and I'm not particularly skilled with these things.
  21. Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, I've tried this technique, but it won't budge. It felt that if I applied any more force, it would break the connector off the motherboard. I've emailed flo, so I'll see what they have to say before I go any further. At the minute, I'm tempted to attempt it without disconnecting them, and see how I get on.
  22. I've just purchased the belt mod kit, and I'm having an absolute nightmare trying to remove the connectors from the main board. Is it possible to complete this mod without disconnecting these? Also, it mentions on the @FLO website to keep the connector connected, and just free the cables(note 2 below). Thanks in advance Dafydd
  23. After marking over a 1000 physics exam papers over the past month, I decided to treat myself👍
  24. Hi @Anthonyexmouth. I fitted mine a couple of weeks ago. I used the holes for the counterscrew and focus stopping screw to fit mine. I haven't had a clear night to test it yet, but have tried it in the daytime and it seems o work fine. However, I did need to adjust the tension of the focuser after removing the 2 screws, as the focuser was slipping, but it seems rock solid now. I followed the guide in the link above to do to this. Good luck Dafydd
  25. Success! Did exactly as @Budgie1 suggested, and secured the coupler slightly outside the casing. This made actually mad fitting the bracket easier as well. Will try and connect to stellarmate next👍
