Lovely image - Was that from the south side of the Loch or the north? ... Last time I was there I didn't even think of looking north... probably missed an aurora or two that way...

It's in Orion, just a little way south of Alnitak (the left most star on Orions belt) :)

Hi Paul - unfortunately visually through a telescope the view is nothing like that, it's just a bit of a smudge really in this instance. The image is the result of about 15 hours worth of light gathered on a ccd chip. The 250 Dob should do you well though - just wait until you point it at the Orion Nebula or a few nice globular clusters :)
