Hi all, I have posted a few things regarding which eyepieces to use with my 'Bresser messier 10" dobsonian". I had decided to go with the 7mm OVL Nirvana UWA-82 Ultrawide eyepiece. However upon checking at stores, they are all currently out of stock until around 2 weeks from now.. I have some people coming next Thursday to use the telescope (if the weather goes well) and would have liked to try and view some planets with that eyepiece. However the shop assistant has suggested that the '8mm Baader Hyperion' is a good alternative, however it is a jump in price approx £35 more than the OVL Nirvana. It's not a huge problem, as I still have the 25mm, but I am an amateur and feel with the 25mm, to view DSO's, I need to have a lot of practice.. But is the '8mm baader hyperion' worth the jump in price, or should I just wait for the OVL to come back into stock? If I should wait, are there any suggestions as to what I can do with SPL 25mm eyepiece that comes with my telescope? Any suggestions as to what I should try and view or practice looking at..? There will be a new moon in a few days.. Any suggestions are welcome Thanks for reading! XD

Hi all, I created a topic a few weeks ago regarding my curiosity on which eyepieces to go for, the scope comes with a 25mm eyepiece. I had some great recommendations and feel that I will proceed with the recommended 'OVL Nirvana ES 82° Eyepiece'. I was informed that the 4mm and 7mm are good for planetary viewing with the Bresser Messier 10" Dobsonian (Its specs are '254/1270 f/5'). So as I can only go for one due to starting a few different hobbies and having spent a lot of money, which should I go for.. The 7mm or the 4mm? I am especially interested in planetary viewing for the moment but I will move on to other things as I gain more experience. I was also wondering if a Barlow is worth investing in? Also maybe any filters or other things that might be useful for a beginner like me? If so can you recommend any barlows that would work with my scope and the eyepiece that I am getting..? Sorry for all the nooby questions and thanks for taking the time to read!

I purchased a bresser 10" dob recently and would like to start investigating which eyepieces I should purchase. It's specs are '254/1270 f/5'. It comes with a 25mm eyepiece. I have been looking at an Olivon 18mm with long eye relief for a good price, I am wondering if 18mm is a good eyepiece to go for after the 25mm that I already own? I would like to purchase a 10mm so I can have 3 eyepieces to choose from (10mm, 18mm and 25mm) do think I should get 18mm or 15mm for the scope I have? I am a complete noob with this subject so please excuse my lack of knowledge. Thanks for your input!!

Hey, thanks for the offer. I am happy to purchase one today. But maybe I could ask if it's possible to come and watch you collimate? To get an understanding of how it is done, and also maybe try and grasp some other aspects of how dobsonians work.. I mean if that is okay with you of course I learn so much better when actually getting a hands on demonstration.

I purchased the Bresser messier 10" dobsonian telescope and wanted to test it out last night. Upon looking through the eyepiece (25mm that comes with the scope) , all I can see when trying to observe anything, i will pan over a star and I will get a blodge of light which looks like the rods supporting the secondary mirror. I'm unable to get anything. I am a complete novice and have no idea what i'm doing while trying to operate a telescope :'D I appreciate any and all advice

I have purchased the scope mentioned in the title and am looking to see which accessories I should buy for it. I have seen about UHC filters being good for aiding a clear image of nebulae. Is there any particular one I should buy? I am not sure of the difference between the 1.25" and 2"? I am a complete noob and don't really understand anything about telescopes. Any recommendations for any filters/eye pieces will be greatly appreciated! Thanks for reading

Advice for beginner telescope
Jakerm1995 posted a topic in Getting Started Equipment Help and Advice
I have made a few topics about buying a beginner telescope, I am a complete beginner with no experience. I have been recommended both the 'Skywatcher Skyliner 8" Dobsonian" and the "Bresser 8" Dobsonian" for the kind of use I would like. However I have also seen online where people are saying that 10" scopes are a substantial improvement and provide much better views of galaxies etc. The Bresser 8" is £389 and the Bresser 10" is £510. for the extra £120, is it worth that much more? I am looking to see deep sky objects, however I don't live in a perfect dark sky area, but according to comments from previous topics, the area I am in is not that bad and I should be able to see plenty. Thanks for taking the time to read this! I did not want to go above £400 really but now I am thinking it might be worth the investment. Feel free to share your thoughts and suggestions on alternative scopes or any advice you may have that relates to this topic. -
