ADVICE on Eyepiece Brand / model
Sreesha74 posted a topic in Getting Started General Help and Advice
Hello I am looking to buy eyepieces. Price range - can spend upto 500$ if its worth the performance. My need is both for Deepsky as well Planetary viewing. Forget the FL , FoV etc I understand the technical specs. I need help on choosing brands / models. If 2" is available for the suggestion made, I would prefer that over 1.25". Please suggest best brands/models that I can look for in this price range. PLEASE MENTION SPECIFIC MODEL of the brand, so it helps to narrow down. Thanks. -
Guiding? I thought we dont need guiding generally for planetary imaging.

Hi, I have a Celestron 9.25" Standard SCT and ZWO ASI290MC OSC. I intend to do planetary imaging with Tele Vue 4x Powermate. Will it work well for 4x magnification? Especially I am looking to capture close views of Moon craters, Rings of Saturn and Moons of Jupiter. Thanks

Thanks. I have Explore Scientific ED 102mm (714mm FL) Triplet Refractor for Deepsky imaging.

While I am aware of the general theory that RCs may not be great for Planetary, and are mostly often used for Deepsky imaging, I wanted some advice on whether these can be used for planetary imaging, especially with 2x / 3x Barlows. Anyone here has experiences, please share: Orion 8-Inch F/8 Ritchey-Chretien Astrograph GSO 8" F/8 Ritchey-Chrétien Telescope. I know SCTs are far better suited for planetary, but am trying to see best leverage possible with above, since it can double-up the needs.

HI All, I am planning to invest on a Planetary Telescope for imaging (Budget between 500 to 2000 USD). Here is my specific need: 1. Weight should not be more than 10-11 Kgs, since I use iOptron CEM40 mount. 2. I should also be able to use this scope for deepsky imaging of small galaxies and nebulae (1100mm - 1500mm) with a 0.63x / 0.5x Reducer. 3. I also need a camera for the planetary imaging (less than 500 USD) that will go with this scope. Pls suggest me a camera. Also please suggest a guiding scope for this (Budget less than 500 USD). Here is my specific need: 1. Weight should be less than 2 Kgs. 2. I should also be able to double-up this as a widefield imaging scope (300-400mm range). I have a ZWO ASI071MC PRO OSC. I should be able to use this camera for the widefield deepsky imaging Please let me know which is the best combination for this need. Please NOTE: I own a ES ED 102, along with ZWO ASI071. I have a 0.8x Reducer. So I can get a range between 540mm - 714mm FL for deepsky imaging. Thanks

Best SOLAR FILTER
Sreesha74 replied to Sreesha74's topic in Getting Started Equipment Help and Advice
Thanks all. Let me rephrase. Price is a constraint :D. Pls let me know anything in the range of daystar quark filters or lesser (less than 1000 USD). -
Hi, I have an ES ED 102 Triplet Refractor telescope and ZWO ASI071 MC PRO one shot colour cooled camera. I plan to invest on a good Solar Filter(and related accessories). Price is not a constraint. Can anyone please suggest the best products in the market that are available? My need: To capture Solar Flares / Corona details etc. Need a high-quality one. Also - what is the method / time to capture Corona? Any alternative ideas, other than capturing during total Solar eclipse? Thanks

is there a filter that filters moon light, and just lets in OII, SII and H-alpha? i know moonlight is flat with all frequencies, but just checking if there are better experiences? ofcourse I DONT WANT the ambient lights /street lights / sodium vapor lamps as well. some choices, want to get some inputs which is the best and why: altair quadband, optolong L-pro broadband, radiant tri-band & cls nebula filter. Does any of this perform better than rest? Does it cut the Fullmoon light? Thanks Sreesha

Hi, I am not able to search the custom objects I am adding into Cartes du ceil catalog. I am using User-defined objects tab to add. Please see attached image. I have added 2 objects Tulip Nebula and Simies 147. When I search, the tool doesn't respond. Can someone help if I am following the right process of adding? Thanks Sreesha
