  1. Hi guys. One other option I've been looking at Anker® Astro Pro2 20000mAh Multi-Voltage (5V 12V 16V 19V) Portable Power Bank External Battery USB Charger for Tablets, Netbooks, Notebooks, Laptops and Smart Phones -- Compatible with HP, Dell, Acer, Asus, Toshiba Notebooks, Google Glass, Nexus Tablets, iPads, iPhone 6 5S 5C 5 4S, Samsung Galaxy S5 S4, S3, Note 4 3 2 and More https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00BUJCMUQ/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_LXgzwbRB9CGTR Would this be better than my original suggestion? Thanks!
  2. Hi everyone thanks for the feedback. Just heard from the manufacturer again and it is a 2.1mm inner connector so should do the job!
  3. Hi guys the Anke has the following type connector. The size is DC 5.5 and the tip is positive current Would this fit the 130slt?
  4. Hi Will, what scope are you powering with the Anke unit?
  5. Hi Ronin thanks. Could you clarify what couple of bits you bought from Maplins please? Is it very tricky to do. Would hate to get it wrong and fry the circuit board of my SLT!
  6. Hi I am about to purchase an external battery for my scope. A Celestron 130slt. Would either of these batteries do the job? http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/251893535778?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&_mwBanner=1 http://www.amazon.co.uk/ANNKE-Portable-18000mAh-capacity-multi-functional/dp/B015H2OUA6/ref=sr_1_11?ie=UTF8&qid=1447319082&sr=8-11&keywords=12v+annke#productDetails Thanks in advance.
  7. This looks pretty good value. Would this do the job ? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/251893535778?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
  8. Hi Will, that looks pretty good to me. Do you have a 130SLT?
  9. Hi everyone. Im guessing this has been discussed in some shape or form before. I have a 130SLT which i love (Astro Newbie here!) major downside is the battery consumption. I don't really want to go the cost of buying the Celestron power pack, i want a rechargeable battery i can sit neatly in the tray under the scope and then remove to recharge occasionally. Question is would something along these lines be suitable for my scope? http://www.amazon.co.uk/HQ-Universal-Sealed-Rechargeable-Battery/dp/B0013A7XOC/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1446465347&sr=8-2&keywords=12v+7ah+battery+%2B+charger Thanks in advance.
  10. Hi have just purchased a Nexstar 130 SLT (not received yet) and would like to buy a carry case for it. Can anyone tell me the dimensions of the tube, tripod and GOTO approx please?
  11. Some great advice here. Its always nice to hear peoples opinions who are in the know! I think a 'from new' purchase will give me more piece of mind, particularly as it is a present. The reaility is i will have limited time with the new hobby due to a young family in tow, so as Russel said the GOTO sounds like a quick way into star gazing for me without the understandable frustruations of manually finding objects. I can indeed upgrade to something larger with better optics, abeit manual when the kids of have lleft home! So i think will go for the 130SLT on that note. I have found a pretty good deal for a new 130SLT with the AstroMaster Accessory kit for £300, unless anyone can recommend anywhere else worth checking out? Thanks everyone, looking forward to clear skies.
  12. Hi everyone, taken some time to happen but finally about to take the plunge and take ownership of a telescope, originally a few years ago I was settled on the Celestron 130SLT Nexstar as I like the idea of being able to quickly move around and learn the sky. The 130 appears to have been around for a while now so should I consider any other scopes around the £350 mark? Thanks!
  13. Hello everyone, i will be taking the plunge and buying a scope with in the next few weeks. generally i am swaying towards the Celestron 130SLT nexStar which has good reviews, motorised and is around the right sort of budget. I wondered if anyone has any first hand experience of this scope and what, if any, accessories are worth buying when i take the plunge? Alternatively are there any other GOTO scopes around the same sort of budget as the 130SLT that may be worth considering? Thanks! Ben
