  1. Hmmm, yes yours is much more pronounced than mine…🤔🤔
  2. For me the new default of 0.5 was way to much, I found 0.25 to 0.35 about right, the default before the update was 0.25, so that’s a good start point….👍🏻
  3. I really don’t see what all the fuss is about with these….🤷🏼‍♂️
  4. Interesting, i have some data with issues like that, so would be interested to get to the bottom, of it, as for now the new BlurX sorts it perfectly… Look at these corner stars from a recent image of mine, they are like you describe, a main star and what looks like a small bump on the bottom right corners…it’s not easy to make out, but it’s there, if I have the star sharpening at the default of 0.5 in BlurX AI4 it shows it as two stars, a main one and a tiny one next to it, like yours were showing…
  5. Those are artifacts from using BkurX on too higher sharpening settings…
  6. Looks superb…👏🏻👏🏻 the nebula is top notch, I like the colours too, corner stars a bit dodgy, especially top right, maybe run through the new BlurX version AI4
  7. Great image, Would be nice to see the full crop of the image, but what is shown looks superb….👏🏻👏🏻
  8. Here is what it does for me, my stars are not to bad, but I do have a tiny bit of elongation in two corners, I think it’s tilt, and it’s driven me mad for a while now, as the more I try to adjust it, the worse it gets, and was starting to take the fun out of the hobby, as I could just not solve the issue, and my eyes were drawn to the poor corner stars every time I looked at my images, I was fairly happy with BluX 1 and AI2, but this BlurX version 2 with AI4 is just incredible, here are the example images 3 examples from 3 corners of the same image, the 4th corner was perfect anyway. Raw is just stacked with no adjustment, then BlurX 1 with AI2 and finally the newly released BlurX 2 with AI4, like I said they are not too bad to start with really
  9. Thanks GraXpert seems very good indeed, I had a few issues getting it to download as it’s flagged by anti virus software, which they are working on, and then when I did get it downloaded it would not install, I had to get the latest Microsoft C++ 2015-2022 redistributable..then all was good..Very simple to use and extremely quick through PI or stand alone…👍🏻
  10. Well according to the above image I posted, both the LRGB and Narrowband have the anti reflective coating, this is why I am confused, my thoughts would be that the Anti reflective coating should always point towards the scope….but this is not the case….depending on the filters used….🤔🤔
  11. No little arrows on the side of any of my 36mm unmounted filters, unfortunately ☹️
  12. Yes, this is more about unmounted 36mm or other size unmounted filters, the ones in cells, I have always screwed in the same way, as they would never go in any other way…🤔
  13. So can someone please explain why these unmounted filters are fitted to filter wheels differently for Narrowband and LRGB, surely the anti reflective surface should be the same way round for all filters….it really confuses me, that there fitted the opposite to each other….. this is from the internet and think it’s from ZWO
  14. If you look at the top of the console in the image you posted, you will see it shows the AI version being used in Cuiv’s video, so he was using the AI version… see below with yellow underline
  15. You are correct, it should show the AI version it is using in the console window, which is 1.0.1 I think, mine does, and I think this is an ongoing issue that some people are having, look on the Dark Matters discord group under GraXpert and then support for more info….
  16. This is was my proper first light with the Esprit 100 and QHY268 mono, had a few test sessions. Pelican Nebula in Ha, 50 x 180 second (2.5 hrs) Ha exposures, with darks, but no flats as of yet. A run through PI with some star reduction, EZ stretch, and also tried the new GraXpert, for removing gradient, and the usual RC Astro BlurX, although not sure it did too much as the data was good to start with, very clean with good star shapes… No noise reduction done on this at all, so it is a bit noisy if zoomed in…. And also it’s not cropped at all, full image size from camera… Comments welcome
  17. Well if it helps, as you will never be able to remove all the lash, what I did was had my PA about 2 mins out, and then just guided in DEC in one direction only with PHD, this means that the DEC will always drift in one direction due to the PA not being optimal, and then the guide commands just come from one direction, and the lash then becomes moot, as the axis never changes direction… As for the RA, backlash does not matter on that axis as it never changes direction anyway, so no need to touch that….👍🏻
  18. I am guessing you sent it to Dark Frame Optics for the overhaul, if so that was your first big big mistake…. The three screws that adjust the worm are a push pull operation, so you have to alter all 3 each iteration of adjustment, the middle one pushes again a block the outer 2 are in threaded blocks, so you loosen the middle one a tad, and then tighten the outer 2 a tad, then retighten the middle one, that is to close the gap, to make the gap bigger, you loosen the outer 2 then tighten the middle one…small amounts about 1/16th of a turn will be enough teach time… ‘As for the screw you can’t get at, that was not an issue on mine as I had the older EQ8, not the newer EQ8-R model, as they are a bit different….but you only need to crack these bolts, not take them out or loosen them right off…
  19. Ok, so I have owned an EQ8 for a few years and have adjusted the worm mesh a few times, the issue with these mounts is that the large worm wheels are not made absolutely perfectly round, the tolerance is too big, and so you get binding in one area and it’s lose in another, so you can only adjust the worm at the tightest point, if you do it at the loosest point it will bind when it hits the tight spot. what I did was to hook the mount up to a power supply that shows the amps reading, then slew the mount at a pretty quick speed and watch, as the mount hits the tight spot the amps it draws will go up quite a bit, mine would slew at around 1.5 amps then when it hits the tight spot it would climb to around 2.2 amps, so then you need to mark this point on the mount, and adjust the worm at this point, to adjust the worm just put a longish dovetail bar in the mount saddle and hold at the end and wiggle it, you will feel the backlash, then you adjust and repeat until you feel no lash at all, then test, but only very smalll adjustments are needed on the 3 adjuster screws for the worm block, also don’t forget to loosen the 4 bolts on the underside of the worm block beofre adjusting, and re tighten after each adjustment… HTH Stuart
  20. I had this same EQ8 mount for a few years, and it performed well, but the DEC backlash was a bit of an issue, I adjusted it myself and it was ok, but not great, BUT please don’t use DFO, I did try them with an EQ6 I had before, and had a nightmare of a time with them, really bad, I won’t go into details here, just to say that they are totally useless with communication and delivering on time, and if you are lucky enough to even get your mount back, there is a good chance it will be worse than when you sent it… There is a place in Ireland that do full refurbs on these mounts, and also very good upgrades, clutches, and bearing and shafts… they were offering full strip down and re builds with premium parts, plus a full spring loaded worm drive option, but it was not cheap, the guy that runs it is on here and his name is @tonyowens_uk On a side not if you have any issues with your clutches, I have two brand new ones that I will be selling…
  21. Not and unusual occurrence from any manufacturer, using pre existing lens cells, and putting in new tube, but I agree the price will be very interesting…🤔 The 61mm version is only £525 at RVO..🤔
  22. Sounds like its a NINA programme issue, if it’s freezing, maybe it needs a reinstall, if it makes the first move and then does not make the second, you will get that error, check all the cables too from the PC to the mount, make sure it’s just not losing communication..
  23. I did not even know they did a 180, just the new 185 that has just been released….🤔
  24. Which is the Askar 180…?? I don’t see a refractor that big in the image…🤔🤔
