  5. Anyone? I can't seem to find many alternatives online how have others done this as the foot that comes with the Equinox 80 doesn't seem substantial enough Darren ------------------------------------------------ Twitter: @SalAstroSoc @Astronut1639 www.salfordastro.org.uk Nexstar 8 GPS ADM MDS Rings & Counter Weights, Skywatcher ST80 & Synguider, Canon EOS 1000d, Dew Heaters & 4 Channel Controller, Orbit Wedge, Observatory and not enough clear nights
  6. The orbit wedge and deforming the NS8GPS I can't decide between the EQ8 & CEM60 The price drop may just swing it for the EQ8 Darren ------------------------------------------------ Twitter: @SalAstroSoc @Astronut1639 www.salfordastro.org.uk Nexstar 8 GPS ADM MDS Rings & Counter Weights, Skywatcher ST80 & Synguider, Canon EOS 1000d, Dew Heaters & 4 Channel Controller, Orbit Wedge, Observatory and not enough clear nights

  10. I'm looking for some good quality scope rings for mounting my Skywatcher Equinox 80 I was thinking of the Williams Optics 90mm CNC scope rings and an ADM Losmandy 7" dovetail bar Are there any other options? 11. I've just noticed on FLO & Tring Astro that they have both dropped the price of the EQ8 mount head to £2145 this has just made my mount buying decision all the more difficult. Do we think that this could start a bidding war with the CEM60 after all that started out being sold at £2100 Darren Darren ------------------------------------------------ Twitter: @SalAstroSoc @Astronut1639 www.salfordastro.org.uk Nexstar 8 GPS ADM MDS Rings & Counter Weights, Skywatcher ST80 & Synguider, Canon EOS 1000d, Dew Heaters & 4 Channel Controller, Orbit Wedge, Observatory and not enough clear

  13. I'm about to order my new mount it's still a bit of a dead heat between the EQ8 and the CEM60. Last chance to pass on anything that you may feel useful from your experience. 16. Good info thanks, it seems there are a lot of examples of both mounts that people are really getting good results from so it's just a lack of reviews and posts about the positives. Thanks everybody keep them coming. 17. Thanks I have posted the original new mount thread over there it may be an idea to post this one as well. 20. Over in this thread http://stargazerslounge.com/index.php?/topic/207884-Any-new-EQ8-Reports%3F/page__view__findpost__p__2581918 I have been asking about the EQ8 from a users perspective, not the issues which you can find threads on, but the other stuff, day to day how are they getting on with it what they like what they don't how it is performing for them with there setup, what they wish they had known about to help them get the most out of it. Over to you CEM60 users, can you shed some light on your experiences with this mount. At the moment I'm looking at getting either an EQ8 or a CEM60 so
  21. Thanks Zakalwe I was hoping you would give me an update I watched your early posts about the eq8 with interest. Great to hear that it's working well for you. Do you have any experience of side by side mounting on the eq8? I have seen a YouTube video where the mounting plate had to be removed and rotated through 90 degrees to allow side by side but then the plate clashed with the Dec clutch leaver. Can this now be done in the handset? I don't fancy dismantling a new mount to tween it. Darren ------------------------------------------------ Twitter: @SalAstroSoc @Astronut1639 www.salfordastro.o
  22. Thanks that's exactly the kind of feedback I'm after, my situation is a little different, I'm only buying the head as it will be installed in the obs. I'm thinking of dual mounting my C8 SCT & Equinox 80. It will primarily be an imaging setup . I have outlined all of my requirements in another thread http://stargazerslounge.com/index.php?/topic/237705-New-Mount-Time---Help I was originally considering AZEQ6 class of mount but after feedback I think I'm going to push my budget and wait to get the bits to dual mount, so now it is a straight fight between the EQ8 & CEM60 I want to gather
  23. If I added it up and posted it publicly it would probably end up in divorce Darren ------------------------------------------------ Twitter: @SalAstroSoc @Astronut1639 www.salfordastro.org.uk Nexstar 8 GPS ADM MDS Rings & Counter Weights, Skywatcher ST80 & Synguider, Canon EOS 1000d, Dew Heaters & 4 Channel Controller, Orbit Wedge, Observatory and not enough clear nights
  24. Nicely done I've not pushed much past 3min yet it looks like the longer subs are worth it. What is your light pollution like? Darren ------------------------------------------------ Twitter: @SalAstroSoc @Astronut1639 www.salfordastro.org.uk Nexstar 8 GPS ADM MDS Rings & Counter Weights, Skywatcher ST80 & Synguider, Canon EOS 1000d, Dew Heaters & 4 Channel Controller, Orbit Wedge, Observatory and not enough clear nights
  25. All good stuff, but back on topic how are you all getting on with the EQ8? What's good? What's bad? What would you change? Are these show stoppers, niggles or just require minor tweaks? What is the issue with the early problems have the gone / been resolved? The EQ8 looks like a perfect fit for me so I'm curious about how people get on with it, you only seem to hear about the problems, but I'm sure that 99% of users must have a great experience otherwise there would be a lot more debate. It would be nice to hear the positives, this would help people on the upgrade path make an informed balance
