  1. Hi all, I upgraded my Vixen GPDX with the Synscan EQ5 GOTO setup. One problem !!! Its on a pedestal, so..... Where do I place the control box to ensure it is earthed/grounded ? The clip on holder for the box itself is designed to attach to the stainless steel legs of a tripod. Does it absolutely need to be grounded? Any help is much appreciated. Regards Mark
  2. @Cornelius Varley @johninderby thanks for the replies. Much appreciated Mark
  3. I have a Vixen GPDX mount which is in perfect condition on a pedestal and has never had any drives on it. I`m using an Orion Optics 10" Europa on it (8kg/17.6lbs) I want to fit it with an goto drive setup to try some astrophotography. The Skywatcher Synscan upgrade https://ktectelescopes.ie/Skywatcher-SynScan-Goto-Upgrade-Kit-HEQ5.html and https://sites.google.com/view/astro-gadget/control-of-telescopes/eq-control/eqstar-eq5-goto-drive-kit?authuser=0 seem to be the best options as far as I can see. Any advice would be most helpful. Thanks in advance. Mark
  4. Thanks for the response 👍 How did you tune it ? My alternative is a second hand Skywatcher eq6 pro but its €399 versus €900 and seems such a shame to not use a classic like the GPDX (Which is is pristine condition)
