Hi Adam, I don't have that model but I do have The Orion 2x52 Wide Angl Binoculars, here in my bortle 4 sky they are amazing for constellations. I'm sure the 2x40 will be wonderful in Tenerife. I would also take another pair say 8x40 with you. All the Best Mick

I don't have the Vixen SG2's. I have the Orion 2x54 ultra wide field angle, and as you all have said these constelllation binoculars are a brilliant accessory. Also when steadied against your eye sockets and gaze with no wobble, lovely.

Nice Pic Rustang. I do a lot of sea fishing from the Gorleston Pier. I spent a week at Caister beach in a static Caravan overlooking the sea last week of October, and I took my Orion Monster Parallelogram Mount and Giant view 25x100 Bino's and one night I viewed Orion Nebula over the sea/beach there, it was marvellous, also had a weeks sea fishing during the day.

Can think of much more except maybe run firmware update again. Or maybe a loose connection in the StarSense HC.

Hi Croft, I know you said you have tried factory reset, but did you try powering up holding down the celestron key (bottom left). Might help, also could be a loose cable. You could try powering up without the StarSense camera plugged in, then see if you can change motor speed. Then power up again with camera plugged in again. Also from the Manual: The hand controller has a “double button” feature that allows you to instantly speed up the motors without having to choose a speed rate° Simply press the arrow button for the direction that you want to move the telescope° While holding that button down, press the opposite directional button° This will increase the speed to the maximum slew rate° When using the UP and DOWN buttons on the hand control.

No Tripprlforge, only the 25x100's they will not close enough for my silly eyes.

Edit: Sorry it should be a single view without obstructions. I believe it is all due to IPD (Inter Pupillary Distance). I had trouble with my 25x100 Binoculars, I could not get them merged to a single view. I rolled the eye guard rubbers down, and the single view was there. My eyes are definitely not the 63 mm average.

I agree with Gfamily you would be better off getting a small telescope. The first time I viewed Saturn was through my first scope a Celestron NexStar 90 SLT Mak, and I could clearly see the rings and Cassini Division.

To be honest, binoculars will not show much detail of Saturn. Try this tool out: http://astronomy.tools/calculators/field_of_view/

Could also try holding the Celestron key (bottom left) while powering up to reset.
