Absolutely awesome!! I think a few people may have been there this evening. Well done - they’re keepers, for sure. 👏👏

it was busy to start with but people left when the first cloud bank rolled in. i stuck it out as i could see the gap coming. after the 8:30 alert the carpark was full with people still arriving. i made an exit !

That is superb, especially with the lighthouse.

popular spot here i North Wales, just glad it was a Sunday night . Tend to stay away from here as its so popular and you have the mass public wanting to shoot everything on phones so you have to deal with people without the correct astro lighting etiquette (cue flash i phone photography lol)

I’m not one for superlatives but ‘Spectacular’ is the only word that comes to mind.  Well done. 👏

    thank you !!

  3. I have been itching to get out to shoot Orion for a while and after a stint at work yesterday i checked https://www.metcheck.com/HOBBIES/astronomy.asp  if you dont use metcheck i highly rate it. anyway i went to my local sark sky reserve here and although i never got the shot i was after, it was sure nice to be back out under a dark sky!

two images the first is a single the second is a stack of 15. both shot with the 20mm SIGMA ART @F1.4 ISO 4000 sony A74 .

to get these images i was stood in my waders in the llyn. now after the first hour went by with only a brief glimpse of stars i was nearly ready to call it day but i stuck it out for another hour and as met check said it would clear between 9-10 and it did just a little later more like 9:45 but i cant moan.  but after nearly two hours stood in rubber waders i was starting to feel the cold.  when i got back the car i thought i felt wet! when i took the waders off my entire left leg was wet. some where in transit of moving these from the old house to the new house they must of been damaged. i just thought i was going soft! it was a balmy 2 degrees but the water must of been a little warmer than that with all the recent rain.  sadly my sigma is going to the repair shop after being out in some pretty epic wild weather recently it the focus ring isn't sounding great . hopefully it can be sorted.

  4. Howdy, I've got a friend with a Celestron Astro fi, it's his son's but keeps having connectivity issues. This is a screenshot he sent me the other night. As I'm unfamiliar with this scope I know this is the best place to solve problems . If anyone has had anything similar or any suggestions please fire away.

Could it be as simple as he's not using his hot spot for his WiFi?

    Many thanks again all.

Great image - it looks like you have a very usable setup there, I’d say. The Samyang is great because if it’s speed, but as you say, with the tracker and patience you can make so with what you have.

the key to a great photographer is not their equipment but how they use it!  you are exactly right,  OP has an very good set up and i hope they continue to produce results as good as the ones above!

  6. Well last nights impromptu trip was a fun one. I took the family back out with me in hope to do some more funky portraits but the sky wasn't quite there,  so i made my own fun.  After standing in dazzling high beams for a few minutes i walked over to a car to find a chap and his youngish boys, and politely asked if he cold turn off his car in the dark sky reserve, what happened next was exactly why i love and share these sights with anyone who will listen. All of them looking up in awe as i pointed out constellations and explained if they hung around until moonset i would take a  picture of them in there new car which they had just been to buy.  An hour of chatting and seeing some meteors the show started so i set up and snapped away and hopefully gave them a night to remember by sending the pic this morning. I stayed well after moonset but the feedback this morning was really good :)

again Sigma F1.4 all images shot wide open.

    cheers

    Dan :)
