  1. Had a look again on the board assembly. Maby you should just rubber grommets/washers between the mounting screws,. And the board.
  2. Bayermatrix takes 30%-50%.. wow! But, If there is a color filter on each pixel. How is it possible to "shoot" mono avi files with a OSC? Or is it "just a software filter? There is a glitch in the matrix. I believe.
  3. In my mind. Races rotating in its housing. Ect.. It docent cost anymore to assemble in a proper way. QC, or lack of it, is the problem. This isn't a product that is mass-produced. In "normal" terms anyway. For a mount, it is "cheaper"? But still, it cost quite a bit of real hard earned money. I think we are accepting things like this, just because its made in China. I don't think we should...
  4. Im sure this has been discussed and asked before. But I was thinking. If you have a color camera and use it in mono mode. You should increase the sensitivity and resolution a lot. The bayer matrix should still be a disantvage compared to a pure mono. But how much in reality? Or, it should be as usual. Im having a brain.. Missunderstanding is a better word.
  5. Oh. If going for lacquer. Remember to mask off connectors ect.. Can be interesting otherwise.. Quality mainboard lacquer, should also be able to clean off. if necessary. Eg component changes/soldering needs ect.
  6. I would be soo, well.. Lets say som heavy Swedish Swearing would take place.. 🤐
  7. Apply some mainboard lacquer before installing the new one. If you're going to pay for it anyway. should be available on spray can. On a place that sells electronic components. Oh. Fuses have different ratings. simply explained. Different "sensitivities". Eg. 5A fast or 5A slow.. So with over current. They can take different times to "pop" Well.. My Swenglish explanation anyway. lol
  8. I was thinking about inside of the mount. Behind the cover.
  9. Did repair electronics back in the 90´s.. so its been a while.. But it can be many different resons. Anything from a cracked soldering, creating high current that starts the "avalanche effect". Or just many a bad resistor as mentioned above. What Im not impressed with. Is the lack of clear coat/protection lacquer. On the board. Mounts will create condensation inside. Cold and humid outside the housing. Electronics/motors warming up the inside. A protection layer of a quality type. Will also protect components for micro vibrations that create cracks in soldering ect.. Not that I think that's the main problem in mounts though. Btw. I think the prize for a replacement board. Is way to expensive for what it is. Is this common on this mounts? Edit. You should check the output voltage on the battery bank.(fully charged) It might be to high to the spec of the mount. Shouldn't be a problem if well designed anyway.
  10. I have read up a little. Well, one should have done that to begin with.. I have seen recommendations about using a ir/uv cut filter, and a tilt adaptor for the camera. I assume the ir/cut is additional to the one that is in the sensor window? Anyone with real experience that it is needed from start?
  11. Hi! Well, Im not sure its "stupid" As nights soon will be pretty non existent in my part of the world. It might be fun doing some solar. It do not come with the accessory kit. So I need a power bank to start with. Only camera I have so far. Is a 178C. I can not find any info on back focus ect. Or what adaptors may be needed. plz. Help a newbie!
  12. The most important comparison! What you can/are willing to, spend on a scope. In essence, what is the best bang for real paid and hard earned money! Göran made a valid point too. Larger aperture would need some sort of obsy. Especially wheightfactor should be concerned.
  13. Yes, we are not in lockdown. But advised to stay at home as much as possible ect. No gathering of ppl is allowed, Over 10 ppl. (lots of ppl still docent seems to get the message...) Keep safe distance ect. I run my business from pretty much home. Fortunately I own my own my building where I have the production. 20meters walk from the house.. Well, its both pros and cons with that.. Holiday is going to be when things has come down to a more normal level. But we can dream, cant we! Ofcoarse, it depends how the economy looks after all this utter mess!!! I think we have hard times ahead of us, even when things starts to move on.. One of my buissines legs is production of display materials for fairs ect.. Let agree on that it moving at zero phase at the moment. Im very fortunate to have other projects going. But at a increasingly slower rate... But, we have to stay positive, and don't scream "wolf" at any problem. Take the time to appreciate family, hobbies ect!!!
  14. Very intresting inputs from you all! This forum and its contributors. It is just great! My learning curve is steep, and much hows it to this forum. As a former glider pilot and technician. Id hate to say it. But clouds is just now a menace! Im going to start looking for a 2 week holiday trip with my wife. Think I need to go somewhere its super nights. And nice in the days. Checked my maps. In the skerries, where I sails during summer. Is about Bortle 2. Friends summerhouse is Bortle 2 also. Bummer that summer nights, here in the Northern part of the world. Is very short. And for a period, pretty much no pure black nights att all..
  15. I think the question maby should be what timesaving it should a 16" give? A saw a ppl of galaxy images that killed most of other images I have seen. Though.. it was a 2 METER..RC.. (Well.. Its out of pretty much anyones reach) But it still had Just having 9 minutes uf integration.. Was just wow!! I have no way near the experience of all of you in this thread. But I argue that aperture saves integration time. (if same obj. and quality is compared) I might be wrong As there is so many factors involved. But we should compare as same observation data/time/place ect.
  16. Exactly what I meant! 😊 if processed the same. Who would win?
  17. I can do 90 sec unguided on my avx. Fokal length 425mm. Stars are decent.
  18. I read all good responses with intrest! But if we would image a faint, small object. Same time, same place. Everything optimizied. One rig starfire 175. Other is RC 16. We collect one sub. Exactly one houer. Under bortle 6 seeing. Who would win with best collected data in the subs?
  19. If.. eh when I get a bigger scope. I think a RC would be a strong choise.
  20. I think you did a good choice! If you end up with to computers. You "need" another scope to go with the other computer.
  21. Well, its a hard, hard decision! I would give it a thought of what gives you the best combo of f ratios. Have heard lots of positive things about bigger RC. I did chose my edge 8, for the ability of 3 different f ratios. Aka kinder egg, 3 scopes in one. "Problem" is you ultimately needs at least 2 cameras to get a correct pixel scale. Mmm I envy your problem.
  22. Keep the c11 with hyperstar. Giving you very nice field of view! RC 16, what focal length?
  23. I do not want to discourage you from RPi. Astroberry is a free and complete set up. Also works on on rpi3. So if you find one really cheap. That could be a test platform. If happy. Switch to a 4. I didn't plan to do EAA and live stacking. But I have tryed it. And it is really fun in SharpCap. If im happy. I save it to a capture file!! My main reason going for a nuc. Was it is all intel. Including USB3 chips. So I would have (hopefully) good camera connection. When in the future when getting a camera with high resolution/ big capture files. Win10 was something I had to buy. Im a iOS user since 90´s.. And yes. Win is still doing upgrades, checking my system. giving weird warning.. But hey. win 10 is better than earlier win versions. Though, not happy with the interna wifi antennas range. Beelink, has external antennas. (but heard there was issues on earlier models) In the end. I did go a more expensive route then intended. I like small and lean RPi form factor. Very much. But Im happy now. And if I want to change the nuc to something else. Its good enough to be used in other applications. My best advice is to think it tru. (if not cheap enough to be a fun experiment) And buy "once". Because when you have a clear night. You want to have a setup that work with a little hazzle as possible. I found it that is a lot of other things to keep in order. to keep imaging. Oh, I control the NUC from inside on my Mac mini, with Anydesk. Its great. But had issues setting it up. Lots of settings to fix so it docent disconnect during imaging. Did happen on several location. That ended in some rather harsh Swedish Swearing..lol!! Lession. Powersavings settings should be shut off. And there is several of them.. Let us hear what you did go for. And the result! edit! One thing to consider to have a mini pc, or a RPi att the scope/mount. Is that you don't have a screen close buy. There is a big advantage with laptop. I brought out a 27" screen when doing fault findings in the beginning. In a dark site.. Or my back yard. It lights up the whole area. .My neighbors was probably thinking what that idiot doing out in the middle of the night. Watch a monitor in the garden lol
