  1. This is how it looks like on video. IMG_8875.MOV
  2. it rotates with the clutch disengaged easy and smooth. The only reason for backlash when clutch is tight I can think off is loose spring of the worm...
  3. Yeah, I also tried and found that it is pushed against by a spring. Should I just tighten it or just take it as it is?
  4. Hi, got ancient CPC1100 and just found that AZ base has some worm play… And I couldn’t find any online sources how to adjust it, while my nearest Celestron dealer is quite far Does anyone has some experience in this or see any good videos/articles how to do it? All good ideas appreciated! ps. Central pin is not a problem, already checked it.
  5. Great post, thanks! I have a question here - are these two boots holding something or I can safely remove them and attach bracket using them later? I was afraid the hold focuser or something else and in doubt can I remove them both without the consequences?
  6. Awesome. Placed waveshare hat order now, off to compile INDI drivers Thanks for the awesome tips! By the way, what would be recomendation for the mounting plate to put all these toys on? Any quality and cost effective options?
  7. Well, this sounds very attractive... 12V power in and stepper motor control can potentially save quite some space. Do you know if waveshare hat got Ascom drivers? I can’t find anything looking like it in Ekos... the box is off the shelf solution: https://www.anodas.lt/raspberry-pi-4b-dezute-diy-su-ventiliatoriumi-juoda
  8. Wow, how have I’ve missed this... Exactly what I need! Many thanks!
  9. Hi! I have been imaging since the lockdown using Stellarmate and Raspberry Pi and planning to add focus controllervand dew heaters. Now with RPi box it was pretty easy - taped it on velcro straight to ED100 body and done. But these two new boxes will require little more surface and I was thinking to use some plate screwed to the top of the scope rings. Funny enough I am struggling to find any run of the mill solution, and any advise, guidancecor example of setups is highly welcome. This is how my rig was looking this weekend...
  10. Hi everyone, got a dilema here... Got EOS450D with full spectrum mod and now deciding should I get LPS filter (e.g. IDAS LPS D1) or just UV-IR blocking one? I have looked at LPS D1 and my conclusion is that it blocks UV and IR fairly well, and add some extra functionality for the periods of full moon (my imaging site is in a very low light pollution, clouds are more of an issue, so having clear sky on strong moon light is a scenario that I would rather benefit on having a setup ready for). Question is - will IDAS LPS D1 block enough of UV and IR with the curve given here: https://www.teleskop-express.de/shop/product_info.php/language/en/info/p1923_Hutech-IDAS-LPS-D1-Light-Pollution-CLIP-Filter-with-MFA-for-Canon-DSLR.html vs this Astronomik UV/IR blocking filter: https://www.astroshop.eu/l-rgb-filters/astronomik-filters-luminanz-l-2-eos-clip-uv-ir-blocking-filter/p,49263 I am very new to all this deep sky imaging, so trying to rely on SGL expert help in these costly decisions Thanks!
  11. It has pink cast on white suface and shows remote IR blinker active in liveview. Thanks for ideas, really helped, off to get some filters!
  12. Hi, maybe a silly question, but I have failed to find an answer in the forums yet... I have Canon 450D, that is claimed to be full spectrum modified by the previous owner and I sort of would like to find a proof that it actually is, before investing into IR-UV blocking filter. With IR filter removal I understand that you can verify that by taking daylight pictures and they should be reddish. Is there some reliable way to verify full spectrum mod? Thanks for any idea! Dainius
  13. Hi, I have just got a new flattener/reducer and want to measure the backfocus for my Canon DSLR. Any ways to do it without taking clear sky pictures? thanks for any ideas!
  14. well, I have bought RPi4 4GB kit with a plastic cooling case. Invested 49$ in Stellarmate and it was pretty seemless experience. The guys made awesome tutorials, HEQ5, Canon DSLR and ZWO connected without issues. There was a Hotspot glitch (no surprise, RPi4 support is still in beta), was sorted by them next day with the new image upload. Thanks for recommendation, can't wait for the new ED scope and clear sky...
  15. Are you running off SD Card or SSD? How large is the storage media?
  16. thanks, my case is plastic so should be ok. On the other hand I still haven't decided - the distances I use might be possible via ethernet and be faster I presume.
  17. thanks, ordering RPi4 now. With a cooled case
  18. Hi, tried to search but no topics, so... Planning equipment for winter DSO imaging and the idea of freezing my trusty MacbookPro doesn’t look great. So planning to run Astroberry, but a little disturbed by the reports on perfomance issues most probably attributed to small memory size if Pi 3. Does anyone so far tried to run it on Pi 4? In other words - is it really worth the difference, should I just stick to 3 B? Any good advise is welcome. Thanks!
  19. Ryan, if that is the same cable that came to me with your mount, it works perfect on Win10, but the port issue remains in Ascom when trying to pick Skywatcher driver. When you download EQMod driver and point in settings to the port you see in Windows Device Manager - then it works like a charm I have used FTDI driver from their web. Posting this to gelp some future users who were stuck just like me last evening trying to make it work
  20. Hi, got serial cable (one that plugs into the handset) that I have used with AZ Goto mount. Is the wiring same for HEQ5 or should I get specific HEQ5 serial cable instead? Don’t want to mess up the handset by experimenting
  21. Great guy to deal with. Packed large item well, communication was top notch, pleasure to deal with. Five out of five stars!

  22. Thanks everyone for the input and guidance. I have went through Stan26 posts and will try some tricks to make it more accurate. Then will play around with my good ole Heritage 130P to test how far it can be pushed. And maybe Mak127. If anything good goes out of it, will post results here. Cheers!
  23. Hi, I am planning to tap my feet into Messier objects, and can't spend on a proper kit like NEQ6 and astrograph tubes with guiders and thousand grand CCD... So will have to build something basic and see if it sticks, then see how can I grow from there. I do have EQ3-2 RA drive head, that is mounted on Omegon 2" steel legged tripod, so is pretty stable. Idea is to add some entry level APO and see what can I achieve with proper Polar alignment (head has polarscope and light). And see what can I get out of it with ASI120 or Canon DSL. I have my eyes on second hand 80mm and 120mm APOs, just thinking if the mount will be able to handle (e.g. balance, move) the load of the latter (SW 120ED)? Do you think it is worth of a shot at all? I have seen some pretty impressive shots in EQ3 challenge...
