  2. Try a Polestar. I have one set up on my Star Adventurer, haven't used it yet. I have got one of these from First Light Optics https://www.firstlightoptics.com/qhyccd/qhy-polemaster-adapter-for-astrotrac-mounts.html Read the description. I can polar align my AVX in less than 10 mins with it. Stephen

  4. get your camera and telescope out and take some pics of the moon...... That's where most of use started. Getting frustrated with out of focus moon pics, back in the film days. DON"T GIVE UP.....   6. Why don't you try using your D5300 plus the kit lens at 18mm f4 on a tripod. take 30-40 lights @ 15 secs (500 rule) ISO 1600, 20-30 darks, flats and bias. Stack them in DSS and process the file in Photoshop or Gimp. You will get some nebulosity and plenty of stars and excitement. I always get excited when I make a nice picture. Photographing through your OTA will only get you cranky and disappointed. Best of luck. Stephen

  8. You would think I could have framed this a little better. I was going to throw out the Eq2 I used to make this, not now. Placed it on the ground roughly south, replaced the batteries, didn't have a cable release. Will even attach a polemaster. Canon 550D 18-55mm kit lens @27mm f4 29 30 sec lights 1600 ISO, 10 darks, 10 flats (I photographed a white door) and 18 bias frames. Thanks for looking. C and C very welcome. Stephen

  10. Some pictures from Saturday night. SW Evostar 72ED , Nikon D5600, ISO 1600, 180 secs M17 stack of 29 lights, 21 darks, flats and bias. SMC 21 lights. Still waiting for the field flattener to arrive. Advice and criticism welcome and wanted. Thanks for looking. Stephen
  11. Sat 3rd I had another go with my SW Evostar 72ED. Can't wait for the field flattener to arrive from First Light Optics. Stack of 20 lights, 15 darks, 16 flats and 15 bias. Processed in DSS. Nikon D5600 180 secs ISO 1600. Thanks for looking. Stephen
