  1. £75 for just the rpi4... 😮😮, that £22 over the RRP..
  2. I have full Stellarmate with Ubuntu mate working on rpi4 and it’s superb....Apart from the lack of 4K working, which I need....so also using a script produced by a guy on the INdI team, which installs a full astro package on raspbian buster on rpi4, that also is superb and does work with 4K....Jasem has released a beta version of Stellarmate for rpi4 for us to try...
  3. Are you on the INdI / Stellarmate forum, as you should also post there, you may get a faster and better response from the developer.. https://indilib.org/forum/index.html
  4. You are correct, it only matters what’s on the consumer unit side, I have a brand new consumer unit with all RCBO’s so each MCB has its own built in RCD, it’s the most up to date way, and mine all work a treat, BUT they won’t work on plug adapters with built in surge suppressors, so something to check..
  5. If you have 240v in obsy, then use network plugs, they are superb for this type of thing..
  6. It is 6:02 am, as DT means Dark time, or PM..... 😀👍
  7. He has only set up SM OS to run on the rpi4 not just Ubuntu mate, he said it was easier to just get SM OS to run rather than get Ubuntu mate and then try and adapt his OS, but I guess it also means that Ubuntu mate will run on its own, I don't know enough about coding really...he has obviously done it like that for a reason, at the end of the day SM is his bread and butter so understandably he wants all that to work and not just Mate...
  8. The first beta release of Stellarmate, for the rpi4 is out, and works really well, much faster than rpi3b+..
  9. Well, good news Jasem has a working Stellarmate on the new rpi4... 😀😀 But still in early stages and won’t be available for a bit yet... He posted on the SM Facebook group earlier today with an image of it working...
  10. If you download them via ekos then they will go to the right folder, if not then they have not downloaded, just tick the boxes of the index files you want...
  11. I assume you have installed the ANSRV software to mimic the astrometry if using a windows laptop, if using a Linux laptop then you just install astrometry... so when it says to use remote it means using the files on the rpi, offline means using the files on the laptop, and online means using the astrometry website, but it’s confusing when using a windows laptop as online means using the ANSRV on the laptop as it mimics being online, you have to put the ANSRV ip address into ekos for that to work Hope that makes sense...it does in my head,.. 🤔
  12. Yes I agree, but my end goal was to have the rpi do it all, so it can be left and just check on it every now and again, I have an i3 laptop with a dual boot with Kubuntu that I use to remote in, and I also can use the Kstars loaded on that PC, and, as you say use the rpi as an indi server, which with the rpi3 and Stellarmate is how I run my set up currently..as the rpi3 is just not powerful enough to run it all.. So with the rpi4 I have a full working system with Raspbian Buster and INdI, Kstars, and it works well, all running from the rpi..
  13. No point in using the rpi4 if only using as an INdI server, as you are not using any of the benefits of the extra power it gives, I bought mine to run everything off and just remote into it...works like a charm, more than enough power for this, with EQ8, SXVR H18 mono camera, Lodestar guide camera, Pegasus Ultimate hub, auto focusers.. and more..
  14. Astrometry is the plate solving software, and GSC is the catologue of stars for ekos to work with the simulators, so you get stars in the pictures, which helps when learning to use platesolving. Yes I use the latest Raspbian Buster..
  15. I have the latest PI4 with the latest INdI and Kstars Installed and running, all built from Source, also full GSC and Astrometry, also Remote Desktop set on the rpi with XRDP, to control from a laptop in the full 4K, it works very well, but you do need the new firmware update plus a case with heatsink and a fan, especially while compiling..mine runs at about 45 degrees now..
  16. Yes, have done it all now, XRDP on the PI and Remote Desktop on a windows machine, or Remmina Remote Desktop on an Ubuntu machine...as I have.. all perfect now..and fast with no lag
  17. Ok, gotcha now..this is how I want to run mine, but with the PI 4, as it has much more power and RAM...but with the lack of 4K video over VNC it’s a no go for now.. Just put a USB stick in the pi and transfer the images to that, and then back to PC....simples...
  18. Yes, this is exactly how I run mine..only I use a Linux Kubuntu laptop to run Kstars and co troll everything.. And yes with the new PI4 and the extra RAM I too like the idea of running it all from the PI and that was my thought when buying one, but as the 4K video won’t run over VNC it will not work for me, HD video is the best it will do, and on a 28” 4k screen it looks awful..so back to the drawing board..
  19. I get all that, but the two examples talked about on here, are both using a laptop to control and rpi as the server, and with Kstars running on said laptop, so in those scenarios, there is no need whatsoever to even see the INdI web manager....it will run auto when ekos starts...and run in the background. I don’t understand when running in this mode, why the Indi web manager is even mentioned as it’s just invisible... you never actually have to see, start or have anything to do with it, when running Kstars / Ekos on a laptop and INdI on the rpi...Ekos does it all for you..
  20. What do you mean by “the web manager route seems most stable”..? As I just posted above, I never see the web manager on my system it just starts and runs in the background automatically when I start my ekos profile, I assume you have the “start INdI web manager” box ticked in your ekos profile..?
  21. Why do you have to start INdI web manager manually, it should start automatically when you start your profile in ekos... ? Not sure what you mean by “web manager for INdI” Its all automatic on mine I never see the web manager I just know it starts and runs in the background, I don’t think there is any other way to run the system...!!
  22. Great, glad you have it running...well done, its worth it i love the software and will never go back to a windows system for astro..
  23. If you are using the laptop and the rpi as the server, then the index files need to be on the laptop really, in ekos under the align tab, on left bottom side you will see astrometry, click the little box next to it, and then click index files, and select the ones you want downloaded, the ones you already have will be ticked already..
  24. it works without a monitor no dummy plug needed, and it works on the rpi 3 and 3b+ without a dummy plug too....so not sure why you needed one, but it will only show a max res of full HD and not the 4K that the rpi4 does now output.....
