  1. Thanks Dave, I will also be upgrading my scope in about a month or two to a SV102. The higher focal length will of course mean better tracking and alignment is required. I taught myself basic celestial navigation (old school) while I had the Skyguider Pro. But now that I have GoTo ability I want to make sure everything is right on the mark. It is deciding which way to move forward and with what accessories that is giving me heartburn. I checked Sharpcap and it appears it is not set up for DSLR imaging. I have been using EOS Backyard and so far it has been working well. Anyway, thanks again for the comeback my friend! Clamper
  2. Hello everyone! I started into astrophotography since my retirement and following the advice of my mentor, I started slowly so as not to create a super steep learning curve. I started with a WO ZS61 and mounted it on an iOptron Skyguider Pro with a WO field flattener and a Canon t3i. I used this system for about a year and decided to start upgrading. I sold the iOptron and purchased the Celestron AVX mount. More flexibility but more to learn. My question (at last) is the advantages/disadvantages for using a polar scope or a polemaster. I plan on getting a GPS for the mount and with the polemaster and 3 or more alignment stars I should be go to go correct? Also I am a little confused between synching a star and aligning it. Thanks in advance for your help
