My floor does not flex much if any.

I put a digital level on the floor and didn't see much movement.

I have bought  3 anti vibration cups which are made by Celestron.

And my rubber floor goes down this weekend.

It will be glued and stapled to the floor. And the is a railway sleeper under the floor.

I am trying to work on a few Nema 17 motors to move the roof.

If it works out, I will have no need to go in to the clubhouse when it's setup for that night.

A very nice observatory  , you will love it.

Im curios why the warm room has to be accessed via the scope area, would not a separate external door into there would be more practical ?

Agree , when i'm imaging , i just start evrything up , and go watch netflix or something.

But i have to check sometimes during the session , and then it's great being able to do so without disturbing the telecope.

Interesting. I’ve had my Wedge for a while so am not sure if my Continuum filter leaks IR or not. I suspect it may be worth betting a 1.25” one for my PST mod too.

I think i remember that i read somewere thar the early ones leaked , but not the newer ones. (contimum filters)

    Nice shots @GKA.

I tried my UV/IR cut filter in front of my Wedge after the partial eclipse yesterday and it was fine. Certainly no negative impact on image quality and I took a couple of shots of the small ARs visible and they came out ok. Need to give it a try on a large AR to see if it makes much difference.

Very nice , i forgot to mention  that i use svbony  sv305 pro camerea and sharpcap and take a film on 1000 frames the picture above is the best 30/1000 ,stacked in autostakkert3 and edited in Registax6 , Orion 120/1000 achromat .Pretty new at this solar stuff , but already found out that seeing is evrything , and it changes fast.

Stu, please can you confirm what you mean by "in front of the wedge". You don't mean on the sun side of the wedge, do you? Wouldn't that fry the filter

On my wedge I'm using the svbony uv/ir-cut filter in the front of /sunny side of the wedge, it rejects some of uv/ir out of the telescope, and I also use the Baader continum filter in front of the camera or the eyepiece, but you could also use the #56 filter, they both Enhance contrast, although the Baader is better ( my opinion)

Here's AR2827 taken with this set up and the wedge i started this tread on.

I purchased a Hercules Herschel prism direct from their website.  It took just over 2 weeks to get to me from China, so not bad at all.  No customs or tax issues, either.

It ships with a variable polarizing ND filter which you need to set near maximum extinction visually since the wedge only comes with an ND3/ND1000 preinstalled, which might be fine for photography, but it is much too bright visually.  I went ahead and ordered a SVBONY ND3/ND1000 filter to see how that works instead of or in addition to the variable polarizer.

I also bought the SVBONY solar finder.  It works pretty well for $16 to get the sun pretty close to centered once I've minimized the scope's shadow on the ground.  I'm thinking of making a solar filter for my 50mm RACI from leftover Baader solar film I have on hand.

From a quick look at the sun between clouds through my 90mm APO, it does appear to put up sharp images.  I also tried a narrowband green Optica b/c interference filter, and didn't notice that much difference.  I'll have to try the other 5 in that series next.  The built-in variable iris aperture just makes my floaters more apparent while dimming the sun, so not too useful.

    Optica b/c interference filters:

Hope you will be As pleased As me Louis D.

When i use it, both visual and for imaging, i use the Baader continum filter in the eyepiece/camera and a svbony uv/ir cut in the nosepiece of the wedge, and it gives great results both ways.

  8. Here.s some pictures of the new sunspot AR2822 taken yesterday 08.05 .

Same setup ,exept that i used a Svbony sv305 pro camera , and best 40% of 1000 frames.

Better seeing this time , but a bit windy.

During the pandemic it is hard to say. The EU importer/distributor is not accepting pre-orders because they don't yet know when it will be released. Bresser in Germany list it at €899, which at todays exchange-rate is approx £775. We will know more and be able to confirm when it is released.

    HTH,

    Steve

Hi Steve , got a mail fro Faye Roman at Lunt yesterday were she said that there were already some on the way to Bresser  in Germany,so i was hoping te same would apply for FLO .

I also asked you guys at FLO , but you didn't know when yet.

I'm very interested in the Lunt 40mm , especially for the prize  , and the possible upgrades you can do.

I would prefer to  deal with FLO , because of the good experiences i have with you guys and girls.

So FLO get it in , pronto 😄😄👍

  10. Finally got to try some imaging with it , bought a used QHY5L-II-C camera  , so i tried it.

Late afternoon , so there was a lot of turbulence , but for a first try , i'm pleased.

Some dirt on the sensors though , but it's used , so i will clean it.

Best 40% of 5000 frames ,Orion 120/1000 achromat , herschel wedge,Baader continum filter  and the above mentioned camera.

@GKADid you ever get a chance to try out your Hercules solar wedge?  If so, what are your thoughts on it?

Yes i did, and I think it's great value, i also bought the Baader continum filter from Flo to go with it, great combination.

    Only visual for now.

  12. Hi , i recently bought an Skywatcher evostar 80 Ed pro outfit , With the designated Field flattener / reducer from Flo , and this will be in my observatory.

However a couple of months ago i came across a skywatcher Pro series 100 ED f9(gold tube) for a very good price , and i would like a Field flattener / reduser for this also to use for trips to dark places.

I can't afford the designated flattener/reducer for this right now , but i've read that the Altair 0.8 reducer flattener will work, and probably the Orion 0.8 to.

I see that StellaMira 2" 0.8x from Flo has similaritys to the above mentioned , anyone tried this?

i have put an aftermarket crayford focuser from Flo i had laying around , on it.

Hi GKA, those images are brilliant considering the equipment used. The tracking is excellent for an EQ5 setup. Once you get your knew ED glass up and running you'll be amazed at what you can capture. Nice one!

Thank you, thats What I'm hopping for.

I have also built my self an observatory, so that will make things easier i hope.
