  1. Thanks for posting! I'm certain those who that witnessed that took a while to calm down!
  2. Excellent image. Again, seeing the gas giant like this is incredible on its own merit. But actually seeing one of the moons looking like a small planet!
  3. Amazing, but the Hubble has already left my brain like guacamole! The image they took with the Hubble of a small area of the sky, that here on Earth shows not a single star, which when processed show uncountable galaxies as far as you could see, finished me off! What is out the in the universe is unimaginable!
  4. Would make our Redwoods and Giant Sequoia look very small! Incredible image.
  5. It is a memory that will stick with you forever!
  6. Great images! I peeked at it a couple days ago, the number of active regions is amazing.
  7. This is a very interesting article. Wouldn't it be a little strange if 2001 had it right?
  8. In between the clouds, the numerous spots and active areas always amaze me. Everytime I look at the Sun, or anything else in the heavens I can't help but think of the past. Once again it's Galileo. There are spots on the Sun. I believe they are storms.
  9. Wonderful image! I had noi idea it even existed!
  10. Nice image! You have to just love looking up at it passing overhead and think, there is really people living in that!
  11. Forget those planewave telescopes! Look at that roll back observatory! And I thought I was finished building observatories!
  12. No, took my life in my hands. Set up in the street away from my driveway.
  13. Nice and clear night. This launch went almost due East for a change. Coming up behind the neighbors tree. Climbing and going down range. All of these were ISO 1600 on bulb. i stopped and started a couple times to make certain it stayed in the field of view. 11:38 pm time of launch. If I would have stayed up another 90 minutes the train would have passed directly over head, but I crashed. Oh yes, no power pole this time!😁
  14. These are now the trend with new installs over here. I'm also seeing a lot of parking lots retrofitted with them. Anything that cuts down on the light shining outward has to help some, but reflected light is still the problem. What I see at 4am when I go to work is businesses with exterior lighting on the building itself around entrances and on the corners that are still terrible. The sky glow back West from where I live is mostly due to exterior lights on businesses that are closed at night.
  15. Seeing the details on Jupiter, like this is always amazing. But I have to say seeing one of the moons, looking like a moon instead of a brilliant spec is even more so! Well done!
  16. Excellent image. What's the chance a meteor would come along at the right moment? You should print one then take it back where you bought the van. Could get some of the cost back on an advertising image!
  17. Excellent image! Down below the GRS to the left a bit is a white dot. Is that the most recent impact scar?
  18. I went to another spot just a mile away to get a lower horizon than my yard. I was disappointed that as clear as it was, I couldnt find the comet in my binoculars. Using Heavens Above, I scanned low and to the left of Venus, which was very brilliant. That for my location put me looking to the NNE. Venus was up at least 25° or more. I even tried some images of the area, but nothing. The sky was good enough that before I left, I turned the camera up and with the same settings could get Andromeda faintly in a widefield. Maybe I was a little early being there was not even a hint of glow from the sun. After the rains we have had the mosquitoes were horrendous! I'll try again Wednesday morning.
  19. Amazing image! When it's right, the milkyway is something glorious to behold!
  20. Anyone else trying to see this eclipse, or the one next April? I put in for time off, and it was approved. Just trying to cut corners to save money and get my ducks in a row. I will probably try for the San Antonio area of Texas, then run like mad if I find clouds might be a problem. If all works out, then maybe a quick trip down to Boca Chica to see E. Musk's big rocket. SWMBO has given me the thumbs up so far.
