  1. Hiya Alan, yes my night time mount is an EQ8-R Pro.
  2. Brilliant Craig, they are brilliant even unguided. Great image of the whirlpool galaxy using the mount. Thanks for sharing. Nigella
  3. Yeah, definitely Ags. I'll have to have words, lol.
  4. Well, my daughter says she's fixed my first DSO M42/43. I'm really lost for words, lol 😆 Is it a retake from "The Wrath of Khan"? Nigella
  5. Thanks Neil H and Lee P much appreciated. I've tweaked it a bit more in photoshop.
  6. Hi all, I'm no lunar expert but here's some images taken with a C11 at f25 and with a Zwo Asi 462mm camera
  7. Thanks Olly, much appreciated for the tip. Yeah, my mistake posting in the wrong place. I've posted one in the imaging section too, lol. I'm blaming my age, lol.
  8. Okay folks, don't laugh but this is the first time I've used an OSC camera. I bought it quite a few months ago but only just started to use it. It's a new learning curve as I've only used a canon all but briefly and many years ago an MX7c I think it was called, also very briefly. I've been using planetary cameras for some time so know a little about processing but not got to grips with taking flats and bias or darks, etc. So this is a stack of an integration time of around 10mins with various exposures from 10sec, 40sec and 60sec. I stacked using DSS and tweaked in Photoshop CS2 (an old copy now). Taken with a C11 @ f6.3 on an Eq8 R Pro mount and Altair Astro 26C camera. I know I am going to have to take flats in the future but just wanted to test the camera combo with the C11 and f6.3 focal reducer. I also add that this was unguided as I've also got to get to grips with setting up the off axis guider and control of all that too. Tweaked a little in photoshop to try and get rid of the vignetting cus I forgot to take flats, lol. Beginners mistake.
  9. I'm quite critical, I see all the mistakes, especially no flats, lol. I forgot to take any.
  10. Thanks Jim, much appreciated. It's always been one of my favourite objects too Jim.

  12. Hi Peter, to get high resolution of granulation, etc it depends on a number of factors including seeing. However the G-Band will enhance these with any size scope. I do use a 127mm achromatic scope at the mo stopped down to 100mm. The images I took above were taken with this along with a 3x barlow. You don't need an expensive refractor because you're only in one bandwidth. So a cheap refractor will suffice. My 127mm was just £250.
  13. The Altair G-Band filter is really great for white light. This image was taken using one.
  14. Only from two days this month as my mount died at the end of the year. These are from the 26th and 30th January. Lunt 60mm DS and Bresser 100mm with lunt Cak module b1800 and ZwoAsi 178mm cameras.
  15. Hi, I've a C11 I use a ZwoAsi 462mc for planetary and Altair Astro 26C plus f6.3 reducer for DSO. Can fit M42 in the field of view with that combo. Only just got the AA26C so can only show a screen pic taken two nights ago of M42 but gives you an idea. Also Jupiter taken with the ZwoAsi 462mc setup.
  16. Just in after an unexpected clear sky when I got home, Jupiter first, I counted three festoons at the lower part of the NEB into the equatorial region. The GRS was prominent just of centre with a few cyclones following in it's wake. The SSTB had a darker band below and preceeding the GRS, grayish in colour. As Jupiter got misty I looked at M45 and took a two min image testing my new AA26C camera. Misted over while looking at M45 and eventually clouded over by 20.30UT so called it a night but nice. Added a pic skysafari to give a visual idea of the view. Added the image of M42 I got on Thursday, now processed.
  17. Another couple of hours on solar this afternoon. A lovely bright flare was seen and much more. Mobile phone shots of computer screen.
  18. I tried my new Altair Astro C26 camera. Really impressed, not used an Osc before just a modded canon. Just a screen shot with my mobile phone for now. Guess it's first light, lol.
  19. Just had a hazy but nice couple of hours imaging the sun in ha and cak. I was even able to get the CaT out, 😆
  20. I can also vouch for the 4tronix remote version. Got them on all my day scopes. I've also got the SkyWatcher electronic focuser on my night scope but usb controlled via pc.
  21. Used the new mount for some solar yesterday. It's an amazing mount. Tracking the sun even at f20 in HA and Cak. No drifting and responsive in both RA and Dec. Smooth buttery movements while balancing the scopes. I must say I'm impressed.
  22. Had a couple of hours observing Jupiter. Seeing only average but could make out three festoons from the lower part of the NEB into the equatorial region. Later on they seemed to be followed by a white oval within the NEB. The SEB was fairly regular with distortion to the top and bottom. Seeing deteriorated so called it an early night. The EQ8-R Pro mount tracked Jupiter really well throughout the session. Only used f16 tonight with a 1.6x barlow. Nigella
  23. Well, not night but day. First outing with the new mount. In a word, "just WOW" well, two words. Tracking absolutely amazing.
