Note to self...do NOT process images on the laptop :(

Good polar alignment is essential to get the best results. And take lots of sub so have enough data to work with in Photoshop. If you are short of data, when you try and stretch it, you just get noise. Keep at it and it will fall into place.

About 40 or 50x 90 sec @ ISO800 with 30 darks, 30 T-shirt flats, and 50 Bias frames. I made a duplicate image and did a less agressive histogram stretch for the core region and then layered it back into the second image which had the full stretch to bring out the fainter details.

Thanks.
This was loads of short 90sec exposures. Then using Deep Sky Stacker, I combined the images to produce one single image with a lot more detail than the originals on their own. During this stacking process, I selected just the centre part of the image and used 3x drizzle, which basically zooms the image 3x larger, but more acurately than simply resizing in Photoshop.

150P on an EQ3-2 with dual axis drive motors and string of Christmas lights wrapped round it.

Yes, it was the Skymax 127. I used a Phillips SPC900NC webcam with a 2x Barlow lens and then an empty barlow as an extension tube to increase the magnification further. I left it late in the season for this image and the planet was very low in the sky so it is not very good. Planetary imaging doesn't really interest me all that much so I haven't bothered to re-do it, although I am sure the kit is capable of much better results.

On this scope I am not sure. I have a little 150P and the secondary is very prone to dewing so I added a foam shield and it keeps it pretty much dew free. Same for my Skymax. I stuck one on the Dob just in case, it doesn't hurt and may help and I had the foam in the cupboard anyway, so it just seemed like a good idea.
