  1. Wanted to pop back with an update. The last 2 nights have been clear for me. And dew free luckily. I haven’t received the FLO power brick yet. But, after switching of my dew controller all the mount issues appear to have disappeared. I think your all right. The dew controller was taking much needed power from the mount. Thanks again for all the suggestions. Hopefully the power brick will do the trick as suggested.
  2. Thank you so much for all your suggestions. Power seems to be the common consensus. I’ll be sure to report back once I have it and have given it a few nights trial. really appreciate all the incredibly helpful comments. many thanks, carl
  3. Yeah I can’t really pinpoint when it started. But as you say, all was ok for a long time and then all these problems started. I’ll see if I can make sense of the SGP logs.
  4. Thanks James, I’ve bought the top one you’ve linked to give a try. many thanks, carl
  5. The light doesn’t flicker and it tends to complete the fast slews ok. The disconnects are pretty random.
  6. Hi all, I’m after some help/advice or suggestions with my HEQ5 go-to mount. i run the mount via a powered USB hub. And it’s powered with a 12v 2amp mains plug I purchased from Amazon. The USB hub is new and all other devices behave ok. problems. the mount randomly disconnects. I get an “external disconnection of telescope detected” in SGP. It periodically will not centre on a target. Sometimes clearing alignment points in EQMOD helps, sometimes it doesn’t. It will randomly loose its park position and park in a different position to home. I’ll manually put it where it should be. Most mornings I find the scope pointing in a weird position due to a random disconnect. I’ll re-open eqmod and it will park. interestingly PHD doesn’t seem to disconnect. From what I’ve noticed. However I get random spikes in guiding on both or either axis. just after some opinions on what could be failing. Power problem maybe? Faulty cable? Motherboard going south? any comments very much appreciated.
  7. The advice and suggestions contained in your answer is simply amazing. I couldn’t of hoped for a better answer. very much appreciated. many thanks
  8. Hello everyone, long time reader first time posting in this wonderful forum. I recently purchased the Zwo1600 asi mono with filter wheel and a 0.67 reducer to use on my RC. I’m at 86mm back focus in the image below. Recommendation is 85mm. Image taken through the Ha filter. I’m getting these WiFi symbol shaped stars and the only way I’ve managed round ones is to remove the reducer. Do you have any hints or suggestions that may work? I’ve read that the filters could have an impact on back focus around 1mm but I’m at 86 anyway. The whirlpool image was taken minus the reducer , I’ve also added an out of focus star with the reducer in case this helps. Any help or advice greatly appreciated. Many thanks, Carl.
