    Isn't the plate solving step required to use the spectrophotometric colour calibration scripts? If it is then turning that stage off may have knock on effects later. I haven't processed any data since the update so I'll load up some files now to see what happens. I'll report back what I find.

Here are three images of old favourites M81 M82 and surrounding area at different scales put together out of data collected over the last 5 years from Esprit150SX46LRGBHa (20hrs), Esprit100ASI1600 RGB and Ha (20hrs), GT71QHY600 Lum (6hrs), GT71ASI2600mc RGB (6hrs) Samyang135ASI2600mc RGB (13hrs) and Askar200QHY600 Lum (12hrs)  all from my Bortle4/5 backyard observatory.  Processed in Pixinsight and Photoshop.

    Interesting,   the Astronomy Tools calculator puts these as emanating about 4mm from the sensor...

Hi David.. a couple of thoughts...  I'd suggest you try the Blue filter with a different camera eg your lodestar and see if the halos are still present,    also have you used the calculator on  astronomy.tools  to check where they are coming from..   When I got my SX46 (also KAF16200)  it had horrible halos and microlensing like an ASI1600 ...   SX had put the sensor window in the  wrong way around, easily fixed and lucky for me they are only just down the road.   If it is the Blue filter I'd have thought that Baader could supply a replacement, even if you have to pay for it it'll be a lot cheaper than a new set.   As for the Oiii ... the Antlias get good reviews and from what I've seen good results.

  6. Very nice Olly, along with Chris I hadn't realised there was Ha to the west of IC348, so something to go after next season :) .. 

    What was the issue with the larger mosaic? Gradients?  Living in an area with many I've found that the following (rather laborious) method works better than any thing else I've tried ... Crop each panel to remove artefacts..   Run SXT ..  run DBE on the starless image (use normalise image option) .. iterate to optimise location of DBE points..  subtract the optimised background from the original image using Pixelmath..  ($T-Background +0.005) (the pedestal ensures no zeros in the resulting image)  .. colour calibrate ...  save ..   when all complete load into APP as TIFS (it'll throw a wobbly with FITS as it'll ask for all the original subs.. ). 

    I've done this on an 18 panel mosaic..  ran SXT overnight then about 2 hours work..  I'd be happy to give it a go.

The Helping Hand dark nebula in Cassiopeia including LDN1357 (the hand) LDN1355 (the wrist)  LDN1358 (the  upper arm) and LBN643 (the reflection nebula to the left of the hand).  10hours of luminance through Esprit100QHY600 and 10 hrs of Colour through GT71ASI2600mc..   Processed in Pixinight and Photoshop..  many many times!

  10. Here's another.... NGC2174-261 The Monkey Head Nebula at the top of Orion's raised right arm presented using the Foraxx palette script from Pixinsight.   7.5 hours of Ha through Esprit150QHY600m, 4.5hours Oiii and 3.5 hours Sii through Esprit100ASI294mm captured last week under a nearly full moon. Processed in Pixinsight and Photoshop with full use made of Russ Croman's tools.   Ha, Oiii ands Sii integration files registered, corrected using BXT in correct mode, stars removed using SXT, noise reduced using NXT, Stretched with Histogram and GHS,  Ha, Oiii and Sii combined using Pixinsight Foraxx script,  Stretched Ha applied as Luminance,  a touch of LHE and MMT sharpening, Then into Photoshop for final noise reduction, colour enhancement using LABcol and Selective colour and addition of Ha stars in Screen mode.

  13. M78, Barnard's Loop and the Bogeyman in Orion. A two panel mosaic of the Bogeyman, Barnard's Loop and M78 area of Orion. 4hrs Lum plus 2hrs Ha through Esprit100QHY600 and 6hrs RGB through GT71ASI2600mc per panel captured in mid December 2023. Processed in Pixinsight and Photoshop.  Close up of M78 below.

  14. Very nice... and well done.   I did a 4 panel Heart Mosaic a while back that was impossible to stitch together until Photometric Mosaic came along.. It is also very well worthwhile running the subs for each of the panels through Normalise Scale Gradient prior to integration..  This uses the same Photometric technique to normalise each of the subs to the best one thereby minimising gradients in each panel giving Photometric Mosaic the best start.
