  1. I had the same issue with an EQ5 GOTO - Upgraded the power supply to one of the FLO ones and it now pushes out the juice for the mount, camera, dew bands and focuser with lots of amps to spare
  2. http://astronomy.tools/calculators/field_of_view/ Go to the above on the imaging tab and play with your scope and camera options, will give you a better idea, remember the scope I’d just like a lens the only way to change the magnification is with a reducer or barlow
  3. AUTOSTACKERT, have registax open in the background and on autostakert tick the box that says open in registack, you can then use that for wavelet sharpening etc
  4. No if you put it on the fine focuser you wont move anywhere, the steps (if you have a similar one to me) are so small (once you suss it out) that you only need to use the course focus knob. You cannot use the other focus knob with it fitted. I know where my rough focus position is and at the start of a session focus out by about @00 steps then focus back in again to get where I need, I also use an auto focus routine on sharpcap which does it all for you. I also refocus with each filter.
  5. filter wheel, filters and dedicated camera, you can get a small frac later and open up a whole different world of imaging
  6. I have the same chip and never go below -10 degrees and find it very stable there once settled (I don't think you can massive gains below -10 but I may be wrong)

  8. I have the CEM60 without encoders as I guide all the time and love it, it appeared that the encoder software would fight the guiding causing issues, I knew I wouldn’t use the encoders so save myself the extra cash.
  9. I had a very similar issue with the same mount, turned out my power wasn't good enough, resorted to a 240v to 12v transformer which now runs everything 12v from it with no more issues
  10. I use 80mm and AA1600M with no issues at all!
  11. I use Sharpcap and Pegasus focus cube on an Altair 80mm, It makes getting correct focus as easy as anything once you understand how to use the different focus systems in Sharpcap
  12. David, I have lost the star and comet function from the right hand side, how do I get it back?? Cheers Simon
  13. Appears my extra data wasn't as bad as I thought, just don't zoom in too much! 15. It all depends on your target, a good starting place is Astrobin, look what could be a good target then go look there what other people have done, that will give you a starting point for exposure times and how many subs you need. Not all targets are good for RGB but some are, look for what will fit on your chip with the scope, I spend nearly as much time planning on targets as getting the data, and no wjere near as much time as the subsequent stacking and tweaking.

  17. In my 55mm optical train I have a Altair 1600mm, Starlight Express filter wheel, 5mm spacer then my reducer but its a dedicated astro camera. I think there might be a ring you can go from camera to filter wheel with, I have one in my kit will check for you later and see how much space it takes up.
  18. There was a tiny one (hardly visible) last time I looked just a red disk
  19. It is at the moment (red blob), there aren't any spots or proms (at least when I last checked)

  21. Yes you can set ROI you would need it as a full frame picture with my camera is 32mb - not sure what trying to shoot video would be like!
  22. Yep with no issues and as you will have to use a capture program most have focus assistants built in as well.
