  1. Hi all, I've got to the point where I have to make a decision for my first solar steps. Currently I have seen the sun through only a white light filter and I am itching for Ha views. So here comes the question: I am going to start saving anyways to get to buy Ha capable stuff. My options are: 80mm f/5 normal achromat (Meade Infinity 80mm) + Quark; or Lunt 60 single stack, then I later save another $1600 to double stack it... I got lost between the pros/cons of the 2 options here... Like I would love to get both if I can afford and just rest my brain but I got only to choose one.. Would love any input or feedback on this! Regards
  2. Hi all, 4 days ago I had a session to image Jupiter GRS, however due to some unknown factors, I did not get the quality that I needed from the images and I was not happy. Having that itch for 4 days to do something good, I just got the laptop, and the camera and took some videos for Jupiter (and again I did not like what I had) and some more videos for Saturn. Considering my main goal Jupiter has gone out of the window field of view, and the fact I still screwed up the the videos, I thought why not take a long video for Saturn and see what will I get. So I ended up with this: Tech stuff: Telescope: Celestron Omni XLT102 (4" f/9.8) Camera: ZWO ASI224MC w/ 2x barlow, Baaded FK + UV/IR cut filters stacked Took videos through SharpCap, processed with PIPP, AutoStakkert, and Registax. Did some color fixes using GIMP I captured a 10 minutes video with exposure of 450ms and gain of 150, that gave me about 1200 frames to work with. Also captured 3 minutes of dark frames (400) Taken throughout the window (as usual )
  3. Well, I would always love to get an open sky all the time, but I'm trying to use what I have to the best! Even thinking to do some mods to help me with my misaligned setup to get things better! Thanks a lot for the feedback makes me really happy to see how my limited setup is giving good impressions! Well that's why I said this is the first time I see this view of Jupiter! So far this is the most awesome view I have got for it! My first time seeing it I saw the 4 moons in a straight awesome line, now I see them all around it like it's children (sorry getting poetic here ), I kind of wishing now I had more open sky and more time to try and capture some motion for those around it... must be a great thing to have and do... This is I ever get the same view again!
  4. Hi all! Was testing my new shiny mod for the telescope (OnStep controller) and I thought to take the chance and get some videos for the moon and Jupiter... Processed Jupiter videos, but still the moon ones for tomorrow... As for what I got for Jupiter... I guess this is my best so far! Not sure if this is related to the new motors and tracking from OnStep but this is the first time I get to see this view! Had 2 versions, one is moderately modified wavelets in Registax, the other one I went a bit far to show more details in it... Tech stuff: Scope: My little lovely Celestron Omni XLT 102 (4", f/9.8) Camera and optics: ZWO ASI224MC, 2x barlow, Fringe-killer + UV/IR cut filters Capture specs: gain 10, exposure 400ms, captured 5x60s videos using SharpCap Processed with PIPP, Autostakkert, Registax, then did some extra color fixes in Gimp and enhanced the moons visibility as well. Had this from inside the house through the window
