  1. Hello, I know that this is a very old thread, but does anyone know if "ASTROVELO" is still an active observer ? I would like to correspond with him regarding the Cooke telescope that he has or had. Or does anyone the whereabouts of this Cooke scope, if he no longer has it ? I know that this is a long shot, but I thought it would be worth a try. He dos not appear to have posted anything on here since 2016. I came across this thread whilst doing an internet search on Early triplet lens telescopes. Any info that anyone could provide would be greatly appreciated. Patrick
  2. Wonderful disk image there Adam.
  3. A very nice set of prom images there. I am a great admirer of your solar images.
  4. Hi Marvin, I have a used with a very good working focuser and the upgraded 9 x 50 finder available for sale at £120.00 UK pounds. I you look at astro buy and sell you will see my advert for it. Kind regards, Patrick
  5. Hi Lenscap, I have tried 2 power supplies, the supplied power cable connected to a mains power supply via the cigarette lighter plug and a mains direct power supply. I have seen mention of the power cable being the problem and people saying that using a thicker cable owing to the current draw is a possible solution ?
  6. Hello, I am looking for some help with a tracking problem with my CG5 mount. What is happening is that it suddenly stops tracking after about 15 minutes. The handset remains powered up and if I push the left hand button on the handset it will start tracking for a few seconds and then stop ,the only way I can get it work is to power off the mount and re-start, it will run again for about 10 - 15 minutes and stop.. I have looked at all the information on the internet and nothing seems to correspond with the problem that I am experiencing. What is odd is that it starts from the stopped position when powered up again without a need to move the mount in any way. Any help with this problem would be greatly appreciated. The mount has been purchased recently from a friend.
  7. I really like long focus scopes and the way they look when mounted. I am currently the owner of a nice used 6" f12 D&G refractor. I would be interested in seeing any reviews on this new scope and would certainly be interested in one as a companion to my D&G.
  8. Hello, I have 4" f15 brass and black refractor. It has a very good lens. I have used it up to 380 x when looking at Jupiter last year in good seeing, bit of a dim image though ! It rides on an old Cooke equatorial mount.
  9. Hi, I have a 4.25" Wray refractor on a Cooke equatorial mount and mahogany tripod that I am currently using in my observatory. I also own a 5" Cooke refractor on Cooke equatorial and iron column with a weight driven clock drive. That 70mm Ross scope on this forum is a very nice scope I must say. HAsun.
  10. A very nice scope you have there. I have a number of antique brass telescopes myself. If you ever want to sell this scope I would be very interested I it. Not that you ever will though !
