Did it work? I have a Meade LXD55 that I updated. All info entered fine. When I got to my alignment, on certain stars, I found when it went to goto, the declination would spin 360*, then an additional 180* or so, to get to the object, which makes no sense to me, at all. Just go either left or right to the object, within a 189* sweep in either direction, rather than doing circles. Also, when it got to an object, it would be off object, sometimes by 90*, other times by 180*, even though it was clearly visible to me the scope was not pointing to where it should be. Was wondering if it was the update, but now really starting to wonder if it's an encoder ring issue. I know it isn't a power issue, I run off a 12v deep cycle with 130AH, which is always charged. Tossed between encoder rings and handset issue. Will try the encoder paint trick to see if it clears it up. It is the cheaper of the two demons... Just curious if it resolved your issue, as your post stops at this point...
