About Me

I entered amateur astronomy 45 years ago. In the 1970s I mainly observed asteroids (IAU observatory code 519) and wrote orbit determination software to be used by German professional astronomers. As a memory of those activities, minor planet 9820 carries my name. Since about 10 years ago I mainly engage in moon photography, where I try to automate the capturing of high-resolution panoramas. In my professional life I'm the director of a software research lab at the German Aerospace Center.
