  1. I bought a second hand Nikon D5500 (unmodded), excellent and flexible intro to imaging using SW 200 Newt, HEQ5 Pro, remote control via APT. Not yet decided on best software for processing. Usually plenty for sale via fleabay etc. Regards Sunnie
  2. Hi Just re-read this article after buying my first telescope a SW 200 reflector HEQ5 Pro Goto mount. Luckily my expectations had been tempered by this article and a talk by the local Astro group. Now just about getting the hang of all the complications and terminology but I will add my 'Eureka' moment. Just generally hopping around the sky, getting used to the controls, I targeted Cygnus and Albireo. What a sight, I could clearly differentiate the two stars and the colours were amazing. I was cold (it is December) but stayed out for another hour and convinced SWMBO to have a look at why I spent the money. Impressed! Sunnie
  3. Hi According to the article in Astronomy Now, there will be two track on the focuser tube where the guides roll on the tube. Leave two tongues in line with these tracks which then still supports the tube for the full travel but the cut out lets the light into the scope: I could scan the article later if interested Sunnie
  4. Hi Is this the same mod as explained in the article in Astronomy Now, March 2017 page 98. They have shortened the tube of a 130 PDS but left two 'tongues' protruding presumably where the 'guide/support' mechanism is on the focuser. I have the 200PDS so have been considering the same mod. Sunnie
