  1. What do you call reasonable price? There’s one on abs here. Sky-Watcher - looks good - note I do not know the seller https://www.astrobuysell.com/uk/propview.php?view=149598 if you slightly better (sits deeper in draw tube) try one of these - you pays your money and takes your choice.... https://www.firstlightoptics.com/other-collimation-tools/premium-cheshire-collimating-eyepiece.html Steve
  2. Thanks for the detailed review. I will use my es82 24mm with 2x Barlow to get me in the range for now. Steve
  3. That sounds perfect! Don’t have any bush wheels though! Thanks
  4. Hi, I’m looking for some dark sky camp sites to stay at this year. I don’t think I’m going to be able to get to any star parties due to timing. Can anyone recommend any good camping sites to stay at. I live in the West Midlands so Scotland is probably out due to distance but most other places will be do able. If you know of anywhere and ar3 happy to share the details please can you post a link for me. Thanks Steve
  5. Looks great an£ will serve you well I think. I have the big brother equinox 120 so no good for travel. If an equinox 80 had been available when I was looking for my travel set up I’d have snapped it up. For travel I have an Altair 80 starwave which I love and I managed to bag the last of the handset star discover mounts which is perfect for grab and go and travel etc. Hope you enjoy using your set up as you did collecting it. Steve
  6. Good choice, mine works a treat. Which pan and tilt head did you go for? Steve
  7. Looks great. You'll just have to move abroad to use it! Steve
  8. John, I’ll let you know what I think. I don’t have many other what I consider to be top end eyepieces - my top eyepiece until now is an Es 82 24mm which I really love. For me it will be interesting to see if the Morpheus is so much better than the cheaper eyepieces I have now and how it compares to rage es82. I’d like to try an ethos sometime but I’m scared I might like it ?. Steve
  9. Well I’ve ordered the 17.5 Morpheus so I’m probably going to order the 10mm Pentax. Thinking I’ll get the best of both ?. I’ll let you all know how it turns out and maybe do a first light review. Steve
  10. Thanks Dave for the feedback on the Pentax I’ve read that people think the 14mm Morpheus is also the weakest link in their offering. Based on your experience it sounds like the Pentax isn’t great at this FL and doesn’t compare well with the Morpheus. I Have a 15mm Starguider which I want to replace with a better quality eyepiece and am undecided whether to go for the 17.5 Morpheus or the 14 Morpheus and then either the 10mm Pentax if I can justify the extra £ or the Morpheus 9mm if not. I heard the 17.5mm Morpheus is a gem so leaning a bit that way at the moment . Thought I’d settled on the 9mm Morpheus as well but now am wobbling a bit on the Pentax 10mm. Thanks to everyone for their input so far you have helped me with my decision making. In the end I suspect they all have slight pluses and minuses, it’s a lot of money though and I want to be sure before splashing the cash. Steve
  11. I had a similar problem and could easily fix it. I decide to stop that axis moving on the mount and to use the pan and tilt unit unit off my horizon 8115 tripod. Enclosed pic. You could use something like that which has rotatable joints that you can tighten and use a pan handle with or you could possibly use a ball head type mount if you can find one. Others May different solutions.
  12. What do people think about the Pentax 14mm? Steve
  13. If you find out let me know because I have a skytee 2 on a SW tripod with an extension tube already ?
  14. Ade, I’ve been in touch with FLO regarding tripod pier extension, Grant says it is available from ioptron at about £180 and they are going to try and source one for me if I order the mount and tripod. I might not need it for the 900mm ED equinox but I think I’ll go for it anyway and that way be sure of no fouling problems. As you say it might be ok but I’m happy to go for it as an insurance policy. Currently they are waiting stock delivery of the tripods. Steve
  15. Well, a while ago I did think the Pentax 10mm would be my grail eyepiece. Then read some articles vs other top end ones including Morpheus and felt it was maybe not all I had expected - I know that everyone will have a different view and that is all part of the investigation process for me. Perhaps now I have to put that back in the mix too, although the original position I was in was a used Delite and a Morpheus at about the same price. The Pentax is £100 more than the used Delite and £60 more than the Morpheus. Aaarrrgghhhh ???. Opinions welcome folks - Delite Morpheus or Pentax? Or maybe some other 9/10mm eyepiece recommendations. Steve
  16. Thanks for the input. I have seen a used TV in mint condition on ABS for less than the Morpheus, thus taking the price out of the equation really. I’m still debating ?
  17. Great sketch. Nice work in 10mins. Steve
  18. Hi I’m looking to get a 9mm eyepiece and in my price range are either Morpheus or Delite. has anyone compared the two? Id appreciate your opinions steve
  19. Thanks Michael - If I read you correctly, am I to understand that the ioptron mount head might fit on top of the SW extension tube? If so, I currently have a skywatcher tripod with an extension tube fitted and that would solve the problem? I have asked the question to FLO as well, lets see what they say? Steve
  20. Thanks for your reply. I am still keen on this mount. Does anyone have any idea if the mount head will fit a SW tripod and extension tube?? or if the SW extension tube will fit the tripod supplied with the ioptron az pro?? Steve
  21. Thanks Uli, I agree. The options as I see it are skywatcher alt Az eq gt5 or 6 or the ioptron, not much else I can use I think? Steve
  22. Thanks Uli, I was considering this for my equinox 120 but based on your experience I am now having second thoughts ?. I want an AZ got mount that can handle the equinox, anybody get any other ideas or does anyone else use this mount with a 120mm F9 frac successfully? Thanks Steve
  23. I thought that exit pupil eyepiece (not scope's) FL in mm divided by scope F ratio? Is that what you meant Olly? Or have I got it wrong? Steve
  24. I am also keen on this mount. Thanks for starting the thread, it’ll be interesting to hear the feedback - hopefully positive.... Steve
