It went very well indeed! Scope was behaving and the sky was perfect... shame I had work the next day!

Grab some good photons! I would be, but my guidecam has failed me... I've set off a timelapse instead. What are you imaging?

      Uranium235

Will do! Just grabbing some more of the Tulip (Sh2-101) over a couple of panes for a widefield. Nearly up to three hours per pane now :)

Sounds good. I became victim to dew on my fisheye lens - haven't suffered dew for ages. Next time - dew strap on lens!!! Still Learning....

BLIMEY, you must hold the UK record for the most image time, I haven't been able to point a scope at a star for 8 months! seriously thinking of selling my imaging kit..

The Star 71 has a very tasty 350mm FL its a perfect bridge between camera lenses and small scopes methinks

Yeah :) I did the maths on this and it should work out to be faster than a binned 130 over large areas. It should even make the DSLR look good!

You will like it, I have the TS version, works like a dream.

  8. Happy Christmas.... ho ho ho!

What target are you doing now or is it a secret? :)

    2. Uranium235

      Uranium235

Well, it *was* the heart of the Virgo supercluster - but the sky was so poor I ended up trashing all the subs. Hopefully saturday will be better.

  10. Hmmm... Altair have put their 80/480 up by £100. So its gone from "perhaps", to "not worth it" IMO.

Even if they were the same price I would go for TS, not quite impressed by AA service. Just can't grasp why the would make this steep jump..!!

Call me cynical... but its Christmas soon, perhaps that is why ;)

    4. emadmoussa

      emadmoussa

    2. Uranium235

      Uranium235

Well, first sub ruined already. Too much fast moving bits of cloud. I'll give it til 10pm.

    3. Uranium235

      Uranium235

If I can get a couple of hours in tonight, then its one less pane to do tomorrow (well, thats the plan!).

  12. Hoovering up one more chunk of Cygnus.....

    1. Uranium235

      Uranium235

Hmmm.... well I was. The sky has just turned to mush. Might as well pack away :(

  13. Imaging.Interrupted... by cloud (boooo!) Oh well, it was a good run!

  14. In need of a stiff drink.. just had my first *perfect* sub from the 130pds.

  15. Integrated flux.... mmmmm... fuzzzy

  16. Its clear! So let us rock and/or roll!

  17. Its clear..... but cold!

      Daniel-K

wouldnt have it anyother way :)

    2. Uranium235

      Uranium235

The 130pds doesnt mind either! Its almost like newts get better in the cold.

      Daniel-K

I used Al's collimation aid, and overlayed that from the preview screen in NeroVision. Turns out my secondary was too far up the tube.

    3. Uranium235

      Uranium235

Despite collimation, there was some minor focuser tilt (probably from the weight of the camera), but Ive adjusted that out and the corners seem ok now - just rolling off some test subs on the Veil.

      tingting44

      Very interesting...

  19. Just sneaking in a couple of hours before the rain arrives (again!)

  20. Just wrapping my head around "A brief history of time"... great book.

  21. Keeping it simple tonight, just a camera and a tripod.
