Got a couple of hours in last night, not a great sky - but worthy for some testing.

Yeah, it started just as it got dark.... fortunately I was using 5nm Ha filters, so that should have blotted out the worst of it.

Xbox?...lol. Try D2 on a gaming PC ;) totally different experience. No aim assist, since mouse and keys are far superior  (headshots galore!). The new updates made heroic strikes more difficult than a nightfall  (which is utterly bonkers).

Not for me it aint ;) for co-op and PvE, its pretty good - and season 3 (warmind) has toughened things up quite considerably.

You'l find that not much will tickle it :) Im running the Ryzen 5 (6/12 core, coverclocked), just 8 gig Corsair DDR 2666, but with the added bonus of a 256gb M.2 SSD (and that goes like stink!). Last night I had Cubase and Destiny 2 running at the same time and it didnt even break a sweat (I didnt notice I'd left Cubase running until I quit out of Destiny).

Yep, and I've managed to bag M81 at the rayleigh limit of the telescope :D  not calibrated properly yet, but its the largest M81 Ive ever put out....lol.

      Thanks Dave :)

For widefield with that camera, its best to use a fast, short focal length lens (135 or 200mm). I used the Samyang 135 for the above image, exposure time was just 40x120s (with hints of IFN when heavily stretched).

For DSO work, its probably worth checking whether your optics have enough aperture to give a low enough rayleigh limit to suit the pixel size (though not important for planetary/solar).

If you go for the cool version, it will double up as a half decent DSO camera too ;) (currently got one on test)

      Uranium235

Yep, it's pretty nippy out there. But at least it's clear and no moon so going for CTB1 again - 30min subs.

No work tomorrow again, due to the big freeze.

Good man! :D Its pretty much essential to help bring out the faint stuff! I was expecting some clear sky tonight, looks like that aint happening, and theres more snow tomorrow - so not much else to do here either!

    1. Uranium235

      Uranium235

Yep, there is a lot to catch up on - probably starting off with either the cave or pelican. The only need a couple of hours in SII to get the required result.

  20. Mulling over the prospect of a 130pds dual shooter... cheap, cheerful, but effective.

    1. Uranium235

      Uranium235

Its alright :) I have a plan, there is quite a bit of give in one on one of my dual bar saddles - so its possible to re-attach the saddle a bit skew-iff - probably just enough for it to point the 2nd telescope in the right direction (or close enough). No up/down adjustment required, its just left/right.

      Uranium235

It's probably doable, I just need to address a couple of technical hurdles first. Ie: you can't exactly put one of them in guidescope rings, and I'm too tight to pay for an adjustable saddle....lol.

You could try stacking them in groups of 10 - and then stacking those groups?
