  1. Wow, a big welcome to SGL! we're her to help and answer whatever question you may have. That optical contraption in the image, I have no idea what it is but I know I need one, though something tells me I can't afford it.
  2. That looks great! it must be a fair bit heavier on the back end now.
  3. Interesting question, I am inclined to say that the level of luminosity in the room would not change, light does not accumulate in a closed space then suddenly escape, darkening said space. If this were the case then I believe light would accumulate in a closed space so that eventually it would be infinitely bright until a door is opened allowing loght to flood out. We know light doesn’t behave this way. But I am not a physicist so this is just my layman’s analysis.
  4. Love the video! at first I thought I saw a filament moving at breakneck speed across the disc, it turned out to be your fallen eyelash.
  5. How about we all just pack up and move to the Atacama desert, we can build our own little village. Just make sure to buy whatever gear you want before moving, shipping costs may be brutal.

A big welcome, nice starter scope, a very popular and proven unit.
  7. Oh wow I love this idea! If i may expand on this. It would be great if one could see all the continents on a map here on SGL and see where others are observing. Maybe we would select a pull down tab and select our status which reflects live on the map, that would be neat. Though I am willing to bet the vast majority of pins would be in the UK, it would still be fun to see where we all are located.
  8. Oh WOW! this is one of the most beautiful images of the rosette I have ever seen! the range of colour, contrast, detail, and perfect stars make for a sublime image.
  9. Incredible experience! the telescope patio is just beautiful, regarding the 3" ES eyepiece, does it come with a set of counterweights?
  10. Watching Jupiters Galilean moons in obit from the approaching Juno spacecraft is magnificent. Once in a while I enjoy watching this NASA clip.
  11. A bit hazy out but no wind, the moon and Jupiter look smashing!
  12. Oh my gosh, i was curious and looked on FLO’s website, the Lunt 60 configuration I purchased here in Canada is nearly double the price in UK when considering the exchange back to Canadian dollars, outrageous!
  13. In fact, this image is me pinned down under the FS128 lens cap. Revisited this thread just now 😁
  14. Wow, I love that mount and tripod, very flashy! which one is it? NO, I don’t need more temptation, don’t tell me.
  15. Great job of capturing the famous tower nebula! not sure why this copied twice.

    Welcome to SGL!
  17. It seems @globular has the answer, those do look like fiber optic cables.
  18. Can someone explain what is happening at the front end of this telescope? has anyone seen telescope weirdness they cannot explain? post it here.
