  1. For me, i am very happy how this image turned out. It amazes me how an image can be 'brought out' from a short video of Jupitor. After taking the video, i viewed it back and it was just a black screen with a small circle moving through it. You could just make out one of the bands on the planet. Then after following one of the guides on here about stacking, i am then presented with this image. I can see my bank balance getting a hammering soon 😀
  2. I think i had this problem. The solution was to download and install and earlier version of stellarium.
  3. This is my first proper go at Jupiter, taken during the Io transit. Taken with a Canon 200D on a Skywatcher 200p dobsonian telescope. No tracking, 1.5 minutes @ 50 fps. Stacked 25 % of images. Processed using PIPP, autostakkert, registax and Gimp.
  4. Just processing one of mine of the transit. I too have that strange splodge
  5. I know this post was from last year but can i ask where you bought your platform from. I do fancy making my own but i have that many other things on the go i do not know when i would find time
  6. Thanks for that, it was indeed helpful.
  7. Its a Canon EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 III
  8. Excellent photo. Now why dont mine turn out like that 😀
  9. Sorry i might have misled you a bit here 😀. I can get a good picture of just the moon with plenty of detail, no problems there. I was after a shot with the sky not fully dark and showing the buildings in the forground. So i focused on the forground buildings (so the moon was obviously out of focus). I get that the moon in this case would be over exposed. In this situation should i be concentrating on increasing the exposure time? I am not after any real detail showing on the moon.
  10. So i need to lower the iso, lower the f number and then increase the exposure time?
  11. Right just checked the picture details and the iso was 25600 😀. The other settings were aperture - F36.0, exposure time - 0.5s
  12. Hello. I was out last night with the canon 200d and tripod hoping to get some decent shots of the cresent moon. One particular picture i took appears to be very grainy. I am not sure i have had one as bad as that before. What causes the graininess and what steps can you use to avoid it if possible. The image is shown. Thanks.
  13. I have finally managed to get out and test the new 75mm to 300mm lens that arrived a few weeks back. I have not had chance to get a shot of both scenery and moon. I have only done the moon full frame. Anyway here is one of the moon at 300mm in the day time and one at 300mm at night.
  14. I was thinking about this. How to get the scenery and moon both in focus. Then i saw a few photos and like you have shown it looks better with the scenery out of focus and the moon in focus.
  15. The problem here in the UK is planets do not get very high in the sky. A typical example is Saturn only reaching about 15 degrees maximum altitude at my Location at this time of year. It will be roughly the same for the OP. I see you have your location as India. I bet you have the planets appear at a very high altitude. We do not get that here in the UK.
  16. Well the 70-300mm lens has arrived. Just need favourable conditions now. I might go to the local lake and take some pictures of the ducks. They dont mind it being cloudy ?
  17. Thank you for that. I am looking forward to picking my new lens up today (70-300mm). But as usual to cloud situation for tonight does not look favourable. Again, thanks. Just need this thunder/lightning/heavy rain to dissapear so i can get out. Typical, you buy some astro gear and the clouds roll in

  20. I have a 70mm - 300mm lens second hand coming in the post soon. So i can have a play and see how iy compares.
  21. Thanks for sharing that. It certainly gives me more to go on. Time for a bit of reading to learn what gradient merging means ?
