Judging by my initial tests vignetting shouldn't be an issue, as long as you have a pretty thin FW.. I use the ZWO EFW mini with 1.25" filters at F6.4.

I just received mine today, so will let you know once it's seen first light. ?

Your filters will let in varying amounts of light, that is why you can do different settings for different filters. Once you have the settings pr. filter, and you can accurately control your light source (like a flats panel), then you can just create a sequence template for your flats and run that every single time.- 144 replies

If you know what discord is, it might be an idea to jump on there, can ask "live questions" to the devs and other users.- 144 replies

A new deep sky image capture software on the rise!
jjosefsen replied to jjosefsen's topic in Discussions - Software
Hi Emil, Glad you liked it. Im not 100% sure what you mean, but I will take a guess. There is an opacity control (+/-) top right, which will change the opacity of the framing box. You can try the different image sources, the quality will vary quite a bit, from excellent to absolutely horrendous! Not much to do about that i'm afraid as it is the data provided by NASA, ESA, etc.. You can also switch to the offline version, and get a sort of Cartes du'Ciel like approach to framing.- 144 replies

No i didn't splurge on that, I too had a bit of a allergic reaction to paying that much for a damn temp. probe. NINA will do autofocus based on a number of criteria. The obvious one is - on filter change. I usually also use - after # of exposures or # of minutes, depending on what my sequence looks like.- 144 replies

Hmm sounds like that camera maybe supports differing readout modes, and it might not be completely handled. Even though ASCOM is supposed to be a standard platform, camera manufacturers are notorious for making noncompliant drivers.. As far as I know you are the first user with a Starlight Xpress camera. Would you mind uploading the logfile with a description of the problem here? https://bitbucket.org/Isbeorn/nina/issues?status=new&status=open Logfile can be found at: %LocalAppData% \Local\NINA\Logs (just paste this into the "run" windows in windows..)- 144 replies

I have never actually tried the Polar alignment routine in NINA, as Sharpcap polar alignment works so well.. But I have been meaning to give it a swirl.. @RolandKol Isbeorn built the autoupdate functions quite recently, so there might be some iffy backwards compatibility with that. In general he has been doing a lot of things with the installation package to make it work better "out of the box", it could be a bit of a pain at times. @artem I am not sure how well the debayer routine works with some of the statistics calculations, they are quite resource intensive to calculate on an RGB image I think, and might be disabled or give bad "download" performance. But give it a try! I leave debayering off, even when using my DSLR, as I am mostly just interested in seeing the quality of subs, colors are off anyways as I am shooting through filters and stuff.- 144 replies

I just checked the issue tracker, and no one has requested it yet. ? Kind of surprised by that.. https://bitbucket.org/Isbeorn/nina/issues?status=new&status=open&page=1 The usual issue with adding native support for a camera is if a contributor can get a hold of a camera, or someone steps up to put in the time to help with the testing.- 144 replies

Hi, Make sure the installed and selected ascom driver is also 64bit and not 32bit. There is a button in the settings pane to import the filters from ASCOM.- 144 replies

It detects if your camera is connected. So make sure that your DSLR is turned on and connected - windows should detect it too before NINA can.- 144 replies

A few users have talked about making videos, but don't think they are up yet. It is a good idea though, worth looking into. For now the closest thing would be the quick start guide, here: https://nighttime-imaging.eu/docs/quick-start/quick-start-ui-overview/- 144 replies

Sorry for the late reply! In stratton you open the monochromatic master you wish to work on, stretch it with the slider in the top, usually all the way to the right. 1. remove the stars from the image. 2. Substract the main image from the original to get the stars only as seen above. 3. Save it as a 16bit tiff and take it into PI. 4. Use histogram transformation to stretch it to nonlinear, here you can really play with how large you want the stars in the mask to be and how many stars you wan't to be included. 5. Use convolution to soften the stars a bit and clean up edge artifacts, play around with it until you get something you like, I only ever tweak the shape slider. 6. (Optional) You can use pixel math to binarize the mask again, I do this when doing star removal in PI, or you can leave the mask a little softer depending on needs.. Formula: iif($T>0.2,1,0) Tweak the 0.2 value, sometimes 0 is valid too.. This just determines at what value a pixel is white or black.. This can also increase or decrease star sizes in the mask. I find this approach much faster than using the star mask process, and I get stars of all sizes, something I have trouble with when using the star mask process. Hope it helps. -

I've been using it to make star mask for use in PixInsight.. works pretty well. I've always hated making them in PI..
