Cheers , it's no Tak / T.V build wise but good π , there,s an ST120 & 150 hiding there (refractors all over the place) but it's the HA etalon stuff that gets hidden away. -
I believe that you can only find out what you are going to really like via trial and error / many of us have gone through vast amounts of equipment and are still not satisfied π Brian

Using a full aperture ERF is more of an advantage for imagers as there would undoubtedly be some internal OTA turbulence during extended imaging sessions with just an internal one.

Any difference between the 2 DS for a LS100THA
Solar B replied to Bigdob's topic in Observing - Solar
Iβve no experience of such BD with Lunt 100s ... I suspect however the full aperture 100mm external etalon in combination with the internal one may have the edge over the 2 internals etalons. Brian -

I believe your enquiring about the differences between possible DS options Option 1. One internal and one external etalon Option 2. Two externally mounted etalons Option 3. Two internal etalons As I understand it the ultimate DS preference is to use 2 external etalons I have no experience of such , but do use a factory matched 60DS from time to time which I like as it only uses one external ERF. -
I'm still surprised as the D-ERF is still highly regarded , I hail from the days of the C-ERF but I know your not imagining your experiences so yes indeed Take nothing for granted with solar telescopes! Let's be very careful out there!! Wise words ! Brian

Rusted .. sorry to hear of your over heating issues ... I must confess that I'm surprised your internal 90mm D-ERF did not cope with the heat even at 150mm with which I have experience of but glad you've opted for the safest option of a full aperture filter given it's advantages of no internal OTA turbulence ect Brian

Looks outstanding β well done , give me a day and I'll read it all and get back π Brian

I guess it depends what you mean by performance Peter ? I tend to judge it by bandwidth , that is I much prefer a good 0.5A view (or lower) over magnification , you can't beat a nice contrasty detailed full disk image imho I wish Joe well with his new 90III Brian

Hello Joe , congrats on the recent acquisition , I was wondering how your getting on with it , and some pics would be nice π When I first got my first PST in 2005 I'm sure a DS 90 was about Β£9k , but we all on the side of the Atlantic are never privy to any of the Coronado sales. Brian

It's probably a little early yet given the weather here , perhaps around May π What may i ask are you doing with the PST etalon ? Brian

Have they pure CaFΒ² Objectives ? Brian
-
I'd try both side by side , the wedge / 80mm combo will almost certainly be sharper. Brian

Just the same really but they're plugging the fact that the OTAs can be used day or night ect .... modular is the catch word. https://luntsolarsystems.com/shop/modular-telescopes/60mm-modular-telescope-package/lunt-ls60mt-modular-telescope-starter-package/?goal=0_31093e48ba-e24dc7ea71-327147217&mc_cid=e24dc7ea71&mc_eid=0625cc9213 Brian

And that ones used ... $30K new is usually Β£30K by the time it's gets over here they are DS though π https://luntsolarsystems.com/shop/solar-products/hydrogen-alpha/230mm-telescopes/lunt-ls230tha-double-stack-solar-telescope-with-b3400-blocking-filter/

No idea what your on about Peter π http://apm-telescopes-englisch.shopgate.com/item/333631383036

That's a blast ... π I have seen a couple of good mods from using an SM60II rear etalon assembly the same has also been completed with Lunt LS60s , whilst I do like mods (looking into one again myself) they can be quite cumbersome and fiddly plus often as not they look ghastly π. Brian

No idea if it's new or not but you've got to love the Altair colours π https://www.harrisontelescopes.co.uk/acatalog/altiat-tripier-green.html#SID=571 Brian

Primaluce Lab from FLO .... certainly looks a secure option https://www.firstlightoptics.com/dovetails-saddles-clamps/primaluce-lab-maxi-plus-dovetail-clamp-for-vixen-and-losmandy-style.html

Here's another link to the Rayox saddle , incase you couldn't see the link on my CN account ... It looks superb (the CN review was great) https://telescopes.net/store/rayox-saddle-plate.html/

https://www.cloudynights.com/articles/cat/user-reviews/rayox-saddle-review-r3093 Tis this one I was thinking of , if you consider the cost of some OTAs it's a worthy investment ... but it won't respond to a voice command π

Iβm sure I saw something on CN a few years back about a motorised one ?
