Wow ... I hadn't realised that observing chairs were so popular π & Thanks Stu yours looks like a work of art and wonderful π» I'm leaning toward the Mey chair now as aesthetics do matter as I'm a day time only observer π I'm currently using 2/3 stools so 1 would kinda make sense π I'll check roughly what observing heights I require throughout the day first though π½ Brian

Thanks Gents ... this is precisely the kind of info I need to know ! I can even see that it can swivel & transportation is not an issue for me. Thanks .... Brian

Hi Folks I wasn't sure where to post this ... but wondered if anyone has any thoughts on observing chairs https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/b01lmy3x5q/ref=sspa_dk_detail_0psc=1pd_rd_i=b01lmy3x5qpd_rd_w=1xlbzpf_rd_p=1055d8b2-c10c-4d7d-b50d-96300553e15dpd_rd_wg=kpv0gpf_rd_r=1qt1h354phw49d6kf570pd_rd_r=467bb1cd-fc29-4786-b78f-ef411219a46fspla=zw5jcnlwdgvkuxvhbglmawvypufyvefcwlfnulhatkkmzw5jcnlwdgvkswq9qtaymju0ntuxt0oxrtheutkxtdvjjmvuy3j5chrlzefkswq9qta1mzy2odkzqtlmm1zdqvnmstdzjndpzgdlde5hbwu9c3bfzgv0ywlsjmfjdglvbj1jbglja1jlzglyzwn0jmrvtm90tg9nq2xpy2s9dhj1zq== I think this is the same as the Skywatcher option ... they appear to be robust and stable Errr links not working but it was on Amazon Thanks ... Probably not 40% better Dave π ... The morpheus reputation speaks for itself I guess one things for sure is that Baader gear is worth waiting for π Brian

There's been a surprising amount to see of late Here's hoping it continues throughout lockdown π Brian
-
Many Thanks again .... I've enquired about the one for sale on ABS so will hopefully give it a go π Brian

Thanks Guys ... I'm not sure about the Baader as I prefer slightly bigger bits of glass to look down upon ... I am giving some serious consideration to the 30mm NPL as I have the 25mm version and it's ok (also a Celestron 32mm omni) but currently using a TV 32mm plossl and I'm not getting on with it for some readon . Brian

Hi Folks I'm looking for advice on a reasonably priced 32mm 1.25" but not the TV 32mm plossl as I don't seem to get on with them ! It's exclusively for solar use. Thanks .... Brian

Great checklist Mark ... I had forgotten about clocking ! Just remember not to clock too far esp with any new DS arrangements π Brian

Into the ground π a friend built this cage found for me , Iβm not sure how much concrete was poured but it wasnβt that much. Brian u -

Cannot comment on various piers , but as your only going to install one once then I'd definitely suggest that pouring some concrete is a must and it's not really a big task. Brian -
Thanks Andy ... that's actually a wee glimpse into my room where some stuff is dumped and my solar gear is stored ... I'm needing to make more room in there ! Sean that's a DS 0.5 modded PST which is actually incredible , by all means get an sm40 I've been using them for 14 yrs so could right a book ... contact directly if you do get one as I can advise at length. It was/is amazing ! Amongst the best I've ever seen & the seeing helped π Brian

Thanks Ed and Understood , the stand alone solarscopes are SV (solar view) the filters & BFs are SF (solar filter) , I think your referring to an SV50 which I also had some years ago it's one of those I regret selling as the finesse of their etalons are unsurpassed ie a SS filter will often outperform DS configurations from other manufacturers. Iβm a big fan of the Hyperion zooms for solar , having used the mk2 , 3 and now 4 exclusively for daytime in a multitude of ha scopes , theyβre just great. NGC 1502 ... Ed are you still using an SV/SF 50 ? brian

Velly nice now thatβs one set up Iβd like to have a peek through ... as the the bright thing climbs higher seeing will inevitably improve on better days. Brian

Thanks Ade I had always admired the Lyra ones and when this one became available I couldn't resist Yours sounds great with the ML ... would be good to see a couple of pics π They're no longer available but you do see a couple up for grabs and they are worth a punt as they're quite well made. -

These look great Pez π ... You very clearly love and enjoy longer FL refractors π I do have one question ... do your neighbours ever get a bit nervous π Brian -

Itβs almost stunning in the flesh Alan and is pristine so I couldnβt possibly chop a bit off and yes big red would be a good colour coordinated choice with a Quark now wouldnβt it π
