  1. I imaged neowise for the first time last night and was able to see it with the naked eye! I thought I would be able to get a bit more detail though. I'm in a fairly rural location, bortle 4 I think. Am not sure whether this is due to my settings or it wasn't dark enough? I am quite North in Scotland so despite these being taken at around 1 - 1.30 am it was still fairly light. Both are single shot on a static tripod with a Canon 1300d. The first image is 13 seconds at ISO 800 and the second 15 seconds at ISO 800. Any thoughts and tips to get more detail?
  2. Great photo! Thanks a lot, really hoping the clouds hold off for tomorrow night
  3. Hey! The clouds look like they are going to clear tomorrow and I will get my first chance to see and image comet neowise! I have seen many amazing photographs on this website of the comet so far and am just wondering what I can expect from my somewhat limited kit. I have a Canon 1300d, a standard kit lens and a static tripod. Can I get a decent widefield photograph with this? I am unsure whether many of the photos I have seen are stacked/are long exposures using a tracking mount. I probably won't be able to stack with my tripod. Any overall advice for my first go at imaging a comet would also be appreciated!
  4. Absolutely love these! I have similar kit to you and am just wondering whether you had a tracking mount? Are these images stacked? Hoping to get out imaging tomorrow night and am wondering what I'm likely to see in single sub without a tracking mount
  5. If he says its unguided then its unguided. You can get great results with just 30 second exposures that obviously don't need guiding. Maybe he has very good polar alignment, maybe he drift aligns. You don't know, so don't assume he just isn't telling the truth.
  6. Well not all of them are, as he did say that he used a scope for some of them.
  7. Incredible images! What's the tripod? Looks pretty sturdy. (Ha just reread it. Might get a berlebach at some point.)
  8. Say it was the bundle. How big do you think it'd be?
  9. Hey guys! The thread is looking awesome so far. Just wondering... How big is the box of the star adventurer...?
  10. Is the Orion Mini Guider a stand alone guider then with no need for laptop? After a while getting good with my Star Adventurer I think I'll want to try guiding, but I really don't fancy taking a laptop around with me, as the whole point of the setup I'm trying to build is portability. How good is non-laptop guiding?
  11. I would try and get better results with the equipment you have. Most DSLRs these days can get decent results with a standard lens and tripod. Keep trying! If you upgrade with the expectation of getting good results straight away, you will be disappointed. All the gear, and no idea as they say. Be patient, ask questions and most importantly get out there and have a go!
  12. I don't think you can call these good results. These are absolutely INCREDIBLE.
  13. Should I go for a Star Adventurer, or a Star Adventurer Mini? Also any lens recommendations?
  14. Incredible images so far! Are any of your DSLRs modded? I'm holding back on modding my camera just as I use it for other photography as well.
  15. Awesome! I can even see the flame nebula I think. What was the ISO and exposure time?
  16. Hey everyone, Thinking of buying a Skywatcher Star Adventurer to further my astrophotography with my Canon 1300d. Would like to see some examples. Can this thread be a showcase of shots being taken with a Star Adventurer? Doesn't matter on camera or lens, just show me what you've taken!
