  1. Thanks 😊 I thought moon would be far away from m3 by the time it's high enough to image . Yes gotta do some experiments tomorrow. I've heard lp filters give a blue image ? How to process those photographs ?
  2. Hi everyone I want to use the local clubs equipment tomorrow night and I'm planning to shoot some bright open clusters(m41.47) and a globular cluster(mostly m3). I live in a bortle 6 area and the setup is Gso 10 f4, neq6, unmodded 700d, ASI Guide scope and 120mm camera for guiding . We can guide upto 5mins easily . So I was wondering on how long do I expose the frames, iso etc I have no hopes to point at a Galaxy cause I know I won't see anything because of light pollution (I may be wrong just a guess ) Are light pollution filters effective? Thank you Clear skies
  3. Just curious, what guiding setup would be ideal to start with the 130pds on heq5 to good more length on the subs ?
  4. Hi. Which refractor would you'll recommend to mount on a eq 3 mount with RA tracker or sw staradventurer both having Max payload of 5kg. Or should I go for a lense like 134 f2 or something. Need this for widefield nebula etc. Thank you 😊
  5. Hi , are images clicked using a ra tracker and eq3 mount eligible for this challenge ?
  6. Hey everyone I am looking forward to purchase a laptop with good battery life to use it for astrophotography as I have to move out of the city to do astrophotography. About 5-6 hrs of power is good enough .will be running software such as stellerium,PhD and APT on it . Any recommendations? Thank you 😊
  7. Hey everyone, I was thinking of taking out the astronomy clubs equipment to do some astrophotography. A Gso 10 f4 , neq6 and my Canon 700d unmodded. A ASI Guide scope and guider I am thinking of either the crab nebula or M78 I remember that the crab shows up in a 30sec test shot. M78 was not that impressive in a exposure with same settings . I can do 3mins guided exposure . I can strech it up to 5 but don't wanna risk it cause of wind . Will be back home by 1am or something so was planning about 2hrs of data or maybe a little more . M78 looks bigger in the FOV .crab is small but is unique . Any advice on which of the targets will be good for a 2hrs imaging session ? Don't wanna waste time on doing too many test shots . Thank you 😊
  8. Hello A solar eclipse is upcoming and I dont wanna miss a chance to photograph it I was wondering if I use a cardboard sheet, cut it according to size of camera and apply solar filter on it, will it be safe to use with the dslr by placing it above the lense? Thank you
  9. Moon though the clouds. And my attempt for the lunar halo with my phone
  10. Looks like Dave is in a good mood IT looks like a bazooka
  11. I think I'm eligible. No processing done. Gso 8inch dob. Saturn is with a c14 and manual tracking (cge doesn't work) using a 3mtr focal length scope is hell for me as I'm a beginner
  12. There are some telrad charts available. Very helpful. As yours is goto. You need the view finder very little actually. ?
  13. I once was awake all night shooting constellation and when I went home 120km away I realized they were jpeg!!!!!
  14. What color will be the HA and O3 images in? By Color i mean should they be blended with. the red channel and green channel respectively
  15. Hi. I don't do ccd imaging I'm just curious to know how it works. And yes images taken from rgbl images off course. Rajesh
  16. So basically we add color to the images.? Does software like pixinsight do this?
  17. Nice images Charl. Looks like the skies in UK have been bad.
  18. Nice image! The astronomy season end here cause of the 6month monsoons and clouds. I think you have made the background little too black?
  19. Hi. I don't use a ccd and don't intend to use one until I learn the basics. My questions are regarding a mono ccd A mono gives black and white images of the object I want to shoot. Astrophotographers add filters such as Rgb and they get a black and white image of the dso in the respected spectrum. How do you'll colorize a black and white image?
  20. Nice image ollypenrice. The galaxies look nice. Which is the planetary nebula? Is it the star with a little haze surrounding it?
  21. Nice image! A flat will make it professional Clear skies
  22. Nice image. Which lense /scope did you use?
  23. By orion class site. Do you mean a place where the orion arm can be seen? What do you feel will be the naked eyed limiting magnitude of the site? At my dark site. 20km away from a town I can see it very well.
  24. That's a nice image. I think there is a little of more blue in it. IT may be my screen.
