"Stella" hasn't done to badly, i am sure there is much more to come later this year especially. Those 462 cameras seem to be rarer than "rocking horse poo" at the moment. other than the player one version.

good looking images Neil, at the best time of the day. Looking at my images of Saturn from last year, the ring tilt has really reduce, makes me think of my first ever Saturn image from 2009 they were edge on i think

Thanks for linking me to this thread @Space Cowboy I was trying to remember where i had seen the images. The difference is considerable between the two focal lengths. With my X1.8 Barlow i should at F18, but with the filter wheel i suspect it is over F20. I think i a 462 camera is going to be placed on the "wish list" as well.

I am over sampled when using my Asi290mm & x1.8 Barlow, but with the filter wheel as well maybe it is just too way too much. I will check on WinJupos to see what the FL is that i am imaing at. Thanks for trying with the data 🙂

I will be very interested in what you can achieve, i could see a distinct dark feature nearer the limb on my effort which is also visible on a few images posted on here from the same evening. Thanks Stuart, certainly improved the detail. I cant help thinking the SCT is maybe not the best scope for UV imaging, i am sure the corrector plate blocks some of the UV signal, compared to Newtonian telescopes.

I think from memory, i think i have managed a 3% illuminated disc. Obviously this depends on the separation from the sun, not looked yet to see how far apart they are this time. I think again from memory when i captured last time it was over 10 degrees. Still very close and precautions must be taken to avoid accidents. I use my shed to make it impossible to accidently point at the Sun.

Despite the fine conditions, this is a pretty disappointing result from 03.06.2023 😞 Been messing around with this data for a week, but unable to do any better than this in terms of cloud detail. Normally would be satisfied but, the conditions looked excellent across the UK. Proved by the superb images on here captured at the same time. The usual set up C9.25, Baader UV filter, X1.8 Barlow. Stacked in A/S3, Sharpened in Reg6 and C/S2.

Interesting view as others have said, it does feel like the best time has passed. It will be interesting to see the arc size grow and phase shrink over the coming weeks. I have captured a pretty thin crescent before and hopefully there will be a chance again this time.

Very nicely captured Stuart, it is very interesting to see the change of features from one day to the next. Good info to remember as well, as it can make you think something is wrong with the conditions due to the lack features seen in previous images.

Looks a good start Neil, not particularly easy at the moment given the position, even when the seeing is decent. Some nice detail visible nonetheless.

Good looking image, the 462 is certainly doing the business for you. With my 290mm at the weekend i was using the following setting, FPS (avg.)=49, Shutter=20.12ms, Gain=390 (65%) this was at around F20 with my C9.25. Still faffing around with the data though, trying to something as good as i have seen on here this weekend 🙂

Its a fine effort, especially considering the current position of Saturn at the moment. Best time of the day as well, before all the idiots wake up!
