  1. Very small window of opportunity on Sunday, unfortunately the seeing was not great either. AR3435 was nicely positioned in the centre of the disc, so hopefully some granulation as well would be visible. I managed extracted some decent detail on the 4th run and last run of the morning, during a slightly more stable couple of minutes. The usual set up C9.25 (when conditions allow), x3 Barlow, ASI174mm. 60 second capture stacking 5%
  2. Good looking image, with nice ring and banding detail visible
  3. Sometimes it is the only object i can see due to light pollution and if the phase is approaching full. I personally never get bored looking along the terminator seeing the effects the shadows have on the different areas and how they change appearance in a short period of time. I also enjoy imaging and sometimes sketching the Moon as well, my sketching is very poor though.
  4. It would seem like a good solution, i have read they are meant to be a pretty good substitute. My biggest barrier to not collimating every session is the dew shield on my SCT, i like to fit it immediately and balance the OTA, but i can not reach the "bobs knobs" when fitted .
  5. I try to do a star test as often as possible, the collimation on my SCT does seem to be pretty solid. i guess with the only time i move it is from observatory to the mobile mount in garden must help.
  6. Very nice image, looking forward to imaging Saturn hopefully sometime soon.
  7. Excellent looking image Stuart, a very nice natural end result has been achieved i think.
  8. Fine looking images Kon, particularly the Jupiter some nice detail despite the conditions
  9. 2ND image from this mornings unexpected imaging opportunity. Very pleased with the end result, some very nice detail in AR3415 Spot and the Granulation. C9.25, 200mm homemade Baader filter, Asi174mm, Continuum filter and X3 Barlow. 60 seconds SER files, stacked 5% in AS3, processed in REG6 and C/S2 to colourise.
  10. This morning did not look much different to be honest, but there were a few gaps, so i set up in hope rather than expectation. Very pleased with the end result though, some very nice detail in AR3413 and the Granulation. The big scope this morning C9.25, 200mm homemade Baader filter, Asi174mm, Continuum filter and X3 Barlow. 60 seconds SER files, stacked 5% in AS3, processed in REG6 and C/S2 to colourise.
  11. It has been a pretty poor summer for me Solar imaging wise. This morning did not look much different to be honest, but there were a few gaps, so i set up in hope rather than expectation. Very pleased with the end results though, some very nice detail in the two Spot and the Granulation. The big scope this morning C9.25, 200mm homemade Baader filter, Asi174mm, Continuum filter and X3 Barlow. 60 seconds SER files, stacked 5% in AS3, processed in REG6 and C/S2 to colourise.
  12. Not managed the gas giants yet, but when I get back from holiday Saturn should be very nicely positioned.
  13. Always good to have an alternative point of view for balance or affirming when you have got it spot on.
  14. Certainly provides an interesting different perspective from the more common wavelengths we see regularly
  15. Hopefully all being well I get some sessions in soon.
  16. Lovely thin crescent there
  17. Interesting captures, never tried this myself
  18. Interesting to hear about Metaguide, not heard of it before. Was you doing a star test before or using a collimator?
  19. Very nicely captured again Simon, Saturn especially seems to have been delivering some fine results already this season
