I'm not that far from you, but living in a village location my sky is a bit better than in MK. If you're towards the east then I think if you were to come out towards Woburn way you'll find some darker sky

Definately agree with what others are saying about magnification and time at the eyepiece. For better contrast to pull out the banding on Saturn a dark blue filter can work well when the seeing is good enough
