Baader q turret set
Steamer Phill replied to Steamer Phill's topic in Getting Started Equipment Help and Advice
I did look at the focal reducer thinking it would be a good comprise before looking at getting a 2nd scope but that's for the future as I'm still struggling to get to grips with the c8. On the bright side though I checked the price of q turret set again today and they've gone back upto £259 again so feeling pretty pleased with £127 I paid ?. -

Thanks for the help John I decided to buy the q turret set as a good starting set as the ones that came with the scope are mostly the basic celestron ep's which I've read aren't the greatest also a copy of turn left at orion?. -

Thanks for advice so far, forgot to mention my scope has a 2 inch W O diagonal so would it be better to buy 2 inch eyepieces? I apologise in advance if these are silly questions but I'm very new to this but determined to get into it. -
Hi all, I was looking at getting myself some eyepieces and have found the baader q turret set for a good price (£127) and i was wondering if these would be a good first set of eyepieces for my c8?

Still struggling with alignment

Yeah it's the mount I'm struggling with I get it so it's pointing north then once it's dark I can't see any of the alignment marks in the scope so I'm basically guessing where to adjust polaris to -
Still struggling with alignment

I'm using a celestron advanced gt mount and a celestron c8 -
Well had a mixed result tonight I still don't seem to be able to get the scope to point in the right direction. I'm pretty sure it's the polar alignment where I'm getting it wrong. I don't seem to be able to see any of the cross hairs etc and polaris is quite faint in my back garden due to light pollution I assume. In the end I just released the locks and pointed it at Jupiter by hand and was very happy to see Jupiter and three moons ?

Finally got a clear night ahead still waiting for pay day to get a dew sheild and was wondering if there are any tips to prolong the onset of dew? I was going to wait until the street lights go out then polar align the mount without scope then bring scope out when I'm ready to start alignment?
