  1. OK thanks i will update and make a few changes..........clear sky tonight!
  2. Thanks Scotty, So its a Pegasus Astro Focus cube driving the 1/10 speed shaft of a 2"Crayford type focuser. Scope is a Meade 8" SCT with an Atik 383L CCD. I can get a reasonable curve if I lower the step size but the FWHM only changes by at best 1.5 which means the routine is only successful if the seeing is very good. I've just had a thought.......I bin 2x2 so as not to over sample and more importantly to reduce the overall focus time, maybe this is causing a problem with star detection?
  3. Hi, I've been using NINA for a while now with great success apart from the focus routine. I understand that when determining the step size the advice is to allow the FWHM to deteriorate by 3-4 times. My problem is my FWHM will go from approx 1.5 - 2 at best and then up to 3.5 at worst, stars worse than this are ignored by the star detection calcs. Is there a setting which would allow the it to measure bloated stars? This of course means I don't get a decent curve, any help would be appreciated. K.
  4. I should have added...........I used the default baud settings and didn’t run as administrator. Kevin.
  5. Dave, I’ve had the same experience. My problem was I didn’t download and install the whole Eqmod suite, I’m ok now. Kevin.
  6. OK i understand now. The problem was i hadn't installed the full EQmod system, it's all connecting now. Many thanks, Kevin.
  7. Thanks Alan, Plug/unplug confirms com4 and the port settings are default as you have listed them. Next......I will find out what baud rate and settings the mount needs. Kevin.
  8. Hi Julian, thanks for the reply. I can't seem to get to the setup you have, the attached is all i can see;
  9. Dave, I have gone through the same setup process as you and have the same problem..................it's driving me mad. Alan has a point, but i'm not sure if my com port is real? please see attached screenshot. Kevin.
  10. Hi, I've been trying to connect my laptop running PHD directly to my new Skywatcher EQ6 AZ via USB for some time now without success. I don't want to connect through the handset. The Lynx USB EQ direct cable, which came included with the mount, works fine if i use the synscan windows app on the laptop via the serial connection option. I don't use the wifi option. I have downloaded and installed the latest Ascom version 6.4.0.0 and the latest version of Eqmod V2.09 I open the Ascom telescope chooser, select "Skywatcher", open "properties", click on the com port drop down box and find it blank. I have tried to just type in the com port number, but know from experience that if port number options aren't offered then the software isn't seeing any. If i go to the win 10 device manager i can clearly see COM4 is the FTDI chip and that it is working properly, as also confirmed by the synscan app. I assume it must be the driver, so I download and run the Ascom Skywatcher wizard to install driver version 6.06262.15273, but i still don't get offered any com ports in the Ascom drop down box. I have also tried the common prolific driver. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
