  1. Ok I'm here in Michigan and my house just shook! People in a 3 hour driving radius all reporting seeing bright flash in the sky. Anybody have any inside info. We're we expected to have a major hit!
  2. 8" orion astrograph, starshoot autoguider with PHD2 and a atlas eq-g mount canon rebel t5.
  3. 47 1 minute exposers stacked, and a little editing in lightroom. Uploaded from my phone
  4. Im pretty sure I did not have the camera in focus as well as the cable to the mount not secured. I feel really dumb was just excited with how clear the skies were. Well see what I can capture tonight.
  5. Sorry I have not been able to test any of this. I will repost when I get it figured out though. Thank you everybody for the helpful input.
  6. I was pointing at M42 south eastern mid sky for my location in Arizona at the time of attempted cal. Guide Scope 80mm refractor 400mm focal length. Camera pixel size is 5.2. Ill have to check the step size when I get home. Optical designReflector telescopes use a pair of large and small mirrors to direct incoming light to the eyepiece. Refractor telescopes refract, or "bend" incoming light to a focus by means of an objective lens. Cassegrain telescopes, such as Maksutov-Cassegrains, "fold" incoming light using two mirrors and a front "corrector" lens.Refractor Optical designReflector telescopes use a pair of large and small mirrors to direct incoming light to the eyepiece. 7. Ill post the logs when i get home. But I think the hot pix might be it. I was fixed on M42 at 5 sec loop brightness up high and i could not see the nebula. Its very bright in my EP so i thought that weird. This was my first try guiding so i wasent sure.
  8. When using PHD it will cal to 61 steps then failed message comes up?? Has anyone seen this before??
  9. Atlas EQ-G mount, Orion XT8 Dob, Cannon Rebel T5.
  10. I manually assigned the drivers to the SSAG in device manager using the update driver software then browse computer for drivers option. After that I deleted everything all the SSAG drivers, all the drivers in the device manger for the USB port (the one I had just got to work) because I was still having the same issue. I did not delete PHD2 though. Next I re-downloaded all the SSAG drivers V4 (from Orions site) and chose full download (all of the updates.). This time when I plugged in the SSAG and it did its auto driver install that it does when using USB ports it recognized it as the SSAG and not an unknown device, I believe having previously manually installed drivers allowed this to happen. From that point on no problems connecting to PHD2. I hope this can save someone some grief. Sorry if poorly typed walkthrough I'M not the best at that.
  11. Thanks everyone for the helpful input. You guys are great! I have it all up and running now. Ill try to get some photos this weekend and post them. They will be my first guided images.
  12. I finally got the computer to attach the drivers to the SSAG but when I open PHD2 and choose the SSAG for the camera it says connecting but it never does and on the lower left PHD screen it says Camera Connect Failed. What driver file did you put in the PHD2 program folder?
  13. I did complete the install. I select the proper camera in the drop down list in PHD and PDH2 (tried both versions) both say connection failed or no camera found right away like there not even trying to connect. In my computers device manager the ssag shows up as unknown device its not with my imaging tools like my web cam. Orions trouble shooting portion says its suspose to be in the imaging tools. Ill just keep messing with it.
  14. Yes my laptop was windows 10. I took it back and bought a new laptop online that is windows 8.1 just for use with imaging. Did you get the ssag to work or did you return it??
