  1. I give you a masterpiece, one of the finest examples of the form you will see this side of Christmas. M42 captured on iPhone through the f10 frac and a 25mm EP. Note that in spite of heavy light pollution this is still an APOD quality image In light of this I'm now going to stop saving for a premium mount it's clearly just not necessary.
  2. Crikey Stu, those are amazing. Were they with the iPhone or the PAS? Either way you're a deserving winner of your own award
  3. If that counts so does this, as I took the photo with my phone too. Especially since it contains evidence of alien life. ? Groundbreaking science happening here also if you look there is a telescope in it too
  4. I think it would be very much in the spirit of the contest, I say post it but we must of course defer to our self appointed judge. There's coffee on my keyboard now after reading that.
  5. I submit for your judgeship's consideration some particularly awful examples of this fine art form. Although on inspection of the competition.....
  6. I've joined the dark side. Nothing to set the 'fracternity' (see what I did?) on fire but I know it's a slippery slope from here. Bagged it with an as new EQ3 for next to nothing too. Do I still suffer a Cloud penalty given that it's old and didn't cost much? It'll do me for solar & grab and go for a while, it's less bulky than the 130 newt.
  7. Very pleasing image John. I love the contrast in colour but also in size.
  8. And if FLO publish a league table will manufacturers then invest as necessary in skills, materials, processes, time etc to rectify any QC issues that become apparent. Especially given that FLO will hopefully show it can be done for the cost of a mere £75 per unit. Probably not practical I know, but a nice idea.
  9. This is a grand idea. If and when I were to be in the market for a refractor I would definitely be interested in this service. As a relative newcomer to this hobby on a relatively limited budget for gear I want the best value for money but as a long time daytime photographer I appreciate the value of precision optics and would happily save that little while longer to pay for this service which is quite frankly priceless. Even with >£1000 equipment I think I'd pay it because as I've learnt with other hobbies a high price doesn't necessarily guarantee quality every time.
  10. In the short time I've been at it the forum has been fantastic and I honestly can't think of anything else the management/admins could do. The structure is perfect so I've known where to post questions and where to look for info and the community is welcoming and friendly. So the only feedback I've got is keep it as it is
  11. That is brilliant.. Loving your Obsy too
  12. Added to my ever growing and probably unattainable target list!!! And to boot My brother's a massive trekkie so he'll be very interested!!!
